FIVE | THE CHANGE.
( the avatar returns, part two )

❝ i'll be outside when the sky falls down,
wanna get the fuck out of this lonely town. ❞

THE AVATAR ESCAPED ten minutes into his capture. Kasumi figured as much when guards started rampaging past her door, pulling her out of her pre-bath care routine.

"Already?" She groaned, setting down her watercress cream. (It worked wonders for wrinkles!) "Wow, I thought it would take at least an hour."

Kasumi had actually felt bad for the poor Avatar when they first arrived on the ship. He was so willing to go with them, so benevolent, that it gave her a churn in her gut. This boy was not the Avatar she or the world had prepared for. And that made him. . . dangerous.

It sure was a shame his youth wouldn't save him from Kasumi's plan to get home. She was dying to hug her hamsterfly Bongo again, and pin Mai to trees with throwing knives. Home was finally in her reach. So whether the Avatar liked it or not, he was staying put.

She sighed, listening to the hasty clumps of metal boots from the hallway. "So much for relaxing," She soured. "When you want something done, you have to do it yourself." It was obvious these guards were incompetent. They were no match for the Avatar, regardless of age. Which meant she was the best possible solution.

Stretching her fingers, she left her chamber. Fire flurried at her fingertips, winding through the rest of her body. All it took for Kasumi to fight was lighting the spark. Letting it grow was the hard part. Fueling it was the hard part.

But today, it would be easy. She was going to go home, and she was going to get rid of this stupid prince. Because that's what she wanted. To get rid of him. Obviously.

Kasumi followed clamours and huffs, topples and cries, until finally, turning into an upper hallway, she spotted him.

The boy had just rounded the corner. His loose clothes billowed behind him. His eyes fell on Kasumi, and he took a step back.

The Avatar is scared of me, hell yeah!

"Hey, have you seen my staff?" He asked, raising a brow.

So maybe not that scared.

"Sorry, little man, I haven't." She put her hands up, ready for a scrap. The Avatar did the same. He looked surprisingly stern with his delicate face and massive eyes, and yet she couldn't imagine hurting a kid who seemed so nice. His eyes wandered the hallway behind her. Kasumi guessed he was looking for a way around her rather than through her, and that made her all the less eager to throw a punch. She hated children.

Her fists flared anyway. "I don't want to hurt you, kid," She said, preparing to attack. Maybe there was a way she could pin him without an injury, but she didn't even want to do that. He was so cute! Look at his tiny arms! And that skinny neck! He was a popsicle stick with limbs!

The boy smiled brightly. "Don't worry, you won't have to!" He chirped.

Kasumi cocked a brow. "What's that supposed to mean?"
