I woke up in the middle of the night to Shado crying and I phased through the wall into her room. Before John left he taught me the spell to entertain her and calm her down. When I did the spell wisps of color and silent glittery fire works shot from my hand into the air. Her ceiling had a spell on it to show the sky depending on the time of day and the animals on her walls moved and the books read themselves. Mom was slightly opposed to having her entire room bewitched but John was a smooth talker and an even bigger flirt. He easily talked her into letting us have our way. John helped with the baby more than anyone, Tommy was over every day for lunch and we even got an occasional visit from Malcom. He called her by her middle name, Illiah. John got a call about a talisman on an island in the north China sea and I told him everything about Lian Yu. Oliver, Slade, Shado, Fires, Ivo, and the whole nine yards. He promised to stop by the plane and get my gun and Slade's sword. I showed him the picture of Slade and he promised to look for any sign of him.

I had been sitting in the kitchen with Shado getting her sippy cup for her when mom cane sprinting down the hall yelling about Oliver being home and that she was going to meet him at the hospital. About an hour later when Oliver and mom came back I expected Slade to be right there beside him, oh how wrong I was. Oliver looked different, almost broken. He sadly smiled at me and then his eyes widened in shock when he saw Shado. "Mama who is dat?" She asked in her cute three year old voice. "Is- Is it. His?" Oliver asked as if he was scared to say his name in front of me. I nodded my head yes and handed Shado to Thea and I hugged Oliver, "I'm glad you're home. Where is he? Is he still at the hospital? Is something wrong? Oliver I need to see him." Mom and Thea went upstairs upon seeing the look of dread on Oliver's face. "You saw how he was Andrea. I had to do something, he had to be stopped. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry." I broke down sobbing on the floor. Oliver knelt down beside me and held me. I pushed him away from me and ran out the front door. Slade was dead. He was never going to meet our daughter. He was never going to see her grow up. I was never going to see him again. He was dead. Gone. I ran until I reached John's apartment, I knocked on the door and he opened it. I was still crying and he pulled me inside and sat me on the couch and asked "What's wrong love?"
