Chapter 3

Cat's POV

I'm bi. I've known since I was a kid, but I've never told anyone because I've never felt comfortable enough with anyone. I think I'm ready, however, to tell Elle. I've thought long and hard and so I'm just going to come out(pun intended) and say it.

I waited until Elle came home that night, then swallowed back my fear and forced myself not to stall.

"Hey, Sunshine, how was your evening?"

"It was good, but, I have something I need to tell you."

Elle sat down beside me on the couch, "What is it?"

I took a deep breath. Moment of truth.

"I'm bi."

Elle was silent for a few seconds, then a wide grin broke out across her face. She jumped up off the couch squealing, "Oh my God! Yes! Sunshine!" she pulled me to my feet and dragged me into an embrace, "I'm so proud of you!"

"I also have a crush." I said sheepishly. Jessica ran in and said, "Sunshine has a crush?"

"Sunshine has a crush." Elle said. 

"Who's the crush?" Ryan said, walking in. 

"Lily Smith-Rannells." 

"Isn't that your sister's friend?" Jessica asked. 

"Everyone I know is my sister's friend. You have to be more specific." I laughed. "But, yes, you guys have met her, I believe."

"Was she with you when you snuck out to watch Hamilton with Comet and Em?" Elle asked. I laughed and nodded, and Elle said, "I know exactly who you're talking about. She's cute." 

I slapped my mom, and said, "Shut up." Elle laughed, and her and Jessica both hugged me. "I am so proud of you, Sunshine." Elle said.

"Wait, so Cat likes girls now?" Ryan said.

"I'm bi, Ryan." I said. 

"You've lived with us for 7 years and you are just telling us now?" Jessica said.

"Well, yeah. I was scared." I said.

"Sunshine, just know you can tell us anything. Anything at all. You can love whoever you want." Elle said, and I hugged her.

I was happy I told my family. I went to my room and told my best friends from childhood, Astrid and Cesca.

So I told Elle- Me

WHAT? WHAT DID SHE SAY?- Cesca

She just hugged me and screamed so loudly that Jessica and Ryan came in.- Me

RYAN MCCARTAN IS AT YOUR HOUSE?- Astrid

Astrid, you know I see theater stars all the time. I live with one. Cool it with the fangirling.- Me

Fine- Astrid.

I'm so proud of you, Olive.- Cesca

Thanks. Gotta go.- Me

I cried tears of joy on my pillow, and took out the bi pride flag I had hidden under my mattress for the past 5 years and hung it up.

"Perfect." I said.
