Upon entering Gringott's, I was surprised to see that both me and Hagrid were surrounded by what looked like little people with very, very pointy ears. I didn't realise I was staring until Hagrid nudged me gently.
"They're goblins" Hagrid whispered to me, his nudge knocking me out of my staring problem. I hadn't realised I'd been staring that long until I noticed a goblin staring right back at me from behind one of his desks. This caused me to lower my head and I officially learnt not to stare at a Goblin from there onwards.
"Intimidating looking little things" I shuddered ever so slightly as I crossed my arms over each other.
"They're clever, but they're not the friendliest of beasts." Hagrid rumbled lowly. I found that he was looking around himself, I guessed I wasn't the only one feeling the intimidation starting to kickstart. I raised my head and found that if I hadn't have looked up for another second or two, I probably would've gone head first into a massive, giant desk.
I heard Hagrid clear his throat and then, the slight crumple of paper. The writing noises too, had come to a halt. I felt as if me and him were now both in the centre of attention. I didn't think about speaking , or even breathing, at that. So I held my breath.
"Miss Paige Dreamer is here to make a withdrawal from her vault" I heard the nervousness in Hagrid's voice, and part of me wanted to hide my face in my hands, whilst the other half came fourth and a cringe made its way out. Hearing your name being spoken how an adult's should be said is quite...cringeworthy. Yeah, cringeworthy.
All of a sudden, a small but stubborn noise escaped from the desk above me and I looked up. Looking right back at me was a goblin who wore glasses that somehow perfectly, were shaped to his tiny little eyes. I felt as if I were about to have a staring contest with the amount of time it took for him to remove his gaze from me.
"And does she have her key with her?" The goblin asked slowly, still staring at me. I fought the urge to look away. A small voice in my head was telling me to answer carefully to this small guy, but as I was about to gather the courage to open my mouth, Hagrid spoke for me."I've got it here, somewhere..." was the response Hagrid gave, and not exactly a good one at that. The goblin was now looking suspiciously right at him. I stood awkwardly, fighting the urge to look around until after what felt like almost a minute, Hagrid stopped rummaging around in his pocket and pulls out a golden key.
"Here it is." He said cautiously, placing it on the desk in front of the terrifying-looking creature.
"Very well" the creature spoke smoothly, before leading us to a rail with a cart already waiting.~~~~~ ~~~~~
The journey to my vault was...interesting and also sickening, too. Being a girl who suffers with travel sickness, It wasn't exactly the most smoothest ride and by the time we reached my vault, I was already feeling the green-ness painting my face and honestly, I didn't know how much longer it would've taken me to physically be sick, but luckily we arrived before that was even an option that I no longer had full self control over.
My head was spinning and I closed my eyes to try and ease my guts for a few seconds, and then a voice commanded for a lamp and I honestly thought I couldn't hold the tornado that was spinning in my guts.
"Hagrid, I think i'm going to puke" I panicked, one hand on my stomach the other on my mouth.
I'd never seen Hagrid stand up and walk away so quickly as I turned my head to hang over the edge of the cart. Luckily, I didn't open my eyes, cause if I did, I would've absolutely 100% have been sick there and then. We were floating so high off of the ground.
Eventually I managed to recover and I hopped off of the cart a little unsteadily at first, but I gathered my grounding and followed Hagrid and the driver to a massive metal door. Looking up, It was taller than Hagrid himself.
"Key Please" The driver asked politely and Hagrid handed the key over.
A small door was moved aside to reveal a small key hole, and the key fit perfectly, of course. The door was unlocked and after a few seconds, I heard small clunking sounds coming from within and behind the door.
The door opened and Hagrid stepped forward, with me following behind him. I stepped aside from Hagrid and as I turned my attention towards the inside of the vault, my mouth dropped. Inside was the biggest piles of coins that I had ever seen in my life. Hagrid looked over at me with a soft expression on his face before asking me a rhetorical question,
"You didn't think you'd have nothing, did you?" He asked gently, whilst keeping his eyes locked on me.
Without any hesitation, I allowed my eyes to roam the shining gold coins that were piled right in front of me."The least i'd ever had, was pocket money." I whispered to myself.
