(MIXED POV'S)
(Paige and Lex's POV)

-Paige's POV-

Watching up front, I was trying to keep my attention focused on what Professor Moody was saying. I kept getting distracted by other people in the class looking over both mine and Lex's way with looks on their faces that half portrayed fear, and half portrayed confusion. Honestly, I thought it was just people not understanding much since our teachers had kept getting switched every passing year, and personally, I found it highly annoying.

Lex was sitting next to me, and she had her head down most of the time. She'd been a little on edge all morning, actually, since the weekend. But she wasn't the only one that I had noticed had been acting that way, now that I thought about it, Gabriella had been, too. Both were unusually quiet.

When Moody had finished explaining himself for being our new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher, everyone straightened up and waited for the class to ACTUALLY  begin. I put my book in front of me on the table, and intertwined both my hands as I leant forward and waited patiently. Hermione, Ron and Harry were all in our class, and Hermione already had everything prepared. Although, she didn't seem too fond of Moody, and honestly, I had a strange feeling something wasn't right with him, too.

"So which of you can tell me exactly how many unforgivable curses there are?" Moody asked.

Out of the silence, a voice broke the awkward tension between teacher and students.

"Three, Sir" I head Hermione say, sounding like she was a little weary herself.

"And they are so named?" Moody asked another question, walking towards the board and beginning to write with his chalk.

"Because they're unforgivable, the use of one of them will-" Hermione was cut off by the professor talking over her and finishing his sentence on the chalk board.

On his heels, he turned sharply and faced us. His expression had changed slightly and he slammed his chalk down on both Harry and Ron's shared table up front.

"The Ministry seems to think that you're too young to know what these curses can do, but I beg to differ. It is ALWAYS  best to know what you're up against, and what you can do to protect yourselves." Moody raised his voice, slight anger filling it.

"And you also need to find another source of disposal for your gum, instead of putting it under the table, Mr.Finnigan" Moody shouted and threw the chalk towards him.

I saw Ron and Harry duck, along with a few other rows behind them. There really was something shady about this guy, I could not only feel it, but it was blatantly obvious, I guess the 'Mad' in his name really did suit this nut job of a 'professor'.

'Professor my ASS, more like insanity as a person ' I thought to myself.
'Where's a mental institute when you need it, I think they've got an escapee.'

As I felt myself shift about in my seat, Lex finally spoke up for the first time properly.

"You've tensed up, everything okay?" She whispered to me

I nodded and informed her that I thought Professor Nutty over there was a little...odd.

"So you can feel it too?" Lex asked, turning her head to face me.

"That somethings not right about this guy?" she looked for reassurance in my facial expression, and I nodded once more.

I only nodded because I felt Moody's eyes lay themselves upon me and Lex and it was probably best for us to shut up, especially with HIM  so nearby.

-Lex's POV-

Moody's attention was still focused on the two of us, and It was REALLY  starting to piss me off. I could feel that some of the class found it highly fascinating to stare just like the Professor was and others were choosing to keep their heads down, and honestly, it was probably the best thing they would do today.

"Let me ask you this" I heard him spit.

"DREAMER !" He shouted and it made even me jump slightly, but I didn't flinch, not once.

"Yes, Professor?" Paige responded, slowly making eye contact with the actual working eye of his.

"Stand. Now." He hissed, and Paige did, quite calmly, too.

She kept her eye contact well and she waited for him to say something, and he did.

"How about you name us a curse?" He smirked, probably hoping that she didn't know what she was about to be talking about, and if he did, he had another thing coming.

"Let me see about that" she replied and pretend to think hard.

Just as she was about to give her answer, I was nudged in the side, and hard. I glared over at the person who did it, and they frowned at me, along with a couple of their friends.

"Freak." One of them hissed at me, I felt the corners of my mouth curve and my hands twitch.

"We know what you did, we HEARD  what you did" another one of them rumbled.

"Just wait until Dumbledore and McGonagall hear about it." the third person joined in.

Paige spun around standing up, and she shoved past me and over to the desk of students who thought it was funny to try and send me over the edge, and unfortunately, it was working.

"And just WHO  do you think you are, talking to people like that?!" Paige growled.

I saw her hands tightening on the edge of the desk and her knuckles were starting to go a pale white. I couldn't help but stare, I'd never seen Paige like this. And it was probably one of the highlights of my day.

"Oh, still have friends, do you?" the first student gathered the courage to speak up, and looked around Paige's arm, directly at me.

Flying out of my seat, I pulled my wand from my pocket instantly, and practically threw myself at their desk, my wand now pointing between their eyes. But as I found myself right next to Paige, I smelt...burning. Like a log fire igniting, and looking over at her, I noticed there was smoke rising from the edge of the table where her hand still remained, gripping it tighter and tighter by the second.

"ENOUGH! " Moody screamed, and me and Paige were both dragged back by the collars of our robes.

"GET OUT OF MY CLASS, NOW !" He bellowed, also pointing at the three students that had caused this all in the first place.

Me and Paige made sure to walk past them and putting my face in one of their faces, I said something that I probably shouldn't have, but I did anyway.

"If it wasn't for Professor over there, I would've already done you over by now" I gritted my teeth, making sure to keep locked eye contact to show that I meant it, and it was indeed, a threat.

"After all, we were learning about curses" I whispered harshly again, pushing their forehead with mine.

"Stay out of my face and most importantly, stay out of my WAY. " I threatened before ripping myself away from the first victim and catching up with Paige.

"You're a freak, you hear me, a FREAK !" they screamed, before Moody grabbed them too, and shoved them halfway up the walkway between the row of desks.

"AND DO NOT FIND YOURSELVES COMING BACK TO MY CLASS UNTIL YOU'VE DECIDED TO ALL GET ALONG" I heard moody yell as the doors of his classroom slammed shut behind all of us.

"So what do we do now?" Paige huffed, gripping her books.

I saw that her hands were back to normal colour again, which was surprising by the way they paled earlier, I thought her knuckles were going to burst through her skin. But if I saw that the smoke was really coming from her hands, that had to mean that maybe she'd leant on something that the group had put down, or maybe, there was something different about her too, just like me.

"I'm honestly not too sure" I replied, briefly looking at her hands and I think she caught on.

"Is...everything okay?" Paige asked sweetly.

I didn't know how to respond, so I just nodded and re-assured her that I was fine, that everything was fine, but really, it wasn't. I knew that something was different since the day that myself and the girls all met, and perhaps some of us didn't know just yet, others may, but don't want to talk about it, and that's okay.

"How about we go and find somewhere to hang out?" Paige suggested.

And I couldn't agree more, I had nothing better to do and the others weren't finishing their classes for another hour, and I HIGHLY  doubt that they would get themselves kicked out, just like me and Paige just did.

"So, when are we going to talk about things?" I asked gently and Paige looked over at me like she knew EXACTLY  what I was talking about, but also tried to pull it off like she was confused.

"Like...what?" She replied, awkwardly looking around and pulling her books closer to her chest.

"What's happening to all of us?" I asked honestly.

We both shared eye contact for a few seconds and lowered our heads.

"So you've experienced it, too..."  Paige whispered under her breath, looking back up at me slowly.

"I guess you could say that..." I replied.

In that moment, we both bit our bottom lips and stared ahead of us as we made our way out and into the courtyard, where the fountain stood tall and the trickling of water settled the atmosphere.

We both sat on the fountain edge and when we took a deep breath, we both turned to each other and nodded.

"Where do we start?"
