(Ron x Hermione)

-Hermione's POV-

Walking down the corridors, I noticed students were flaunting a new addition to their robes. I didn't pay much attention at first, but the more of the corridor I walked down and covered, the more students were wearing the exact same thing and I wondered if it was a new type of 'trend'.

Wanting to get a closer inspection of what they were wearing, I approached a younger student and asked if I could see what it was that they were trying to put on. They obliged happily and handed it over to me to have a look at.

I put it in the middle of my palm and eventually deciphered that it was a badge, and when I read it, I felt anger bubble in the pit of my stomach almost instantly. Right there and then, I wanted to bin it or throw it somewhere, but it was someone else's property and I had no right to do either of those things.

"Thank You" I forced a sweet smile out to the younger student, and placed it back into their hand.

As I walked away, I felt my mouth form into a frown and instantly, the fury bubbled through me.

How could Ron be so selfish?!

I huffed as I saw more students entering and exiting the grand hall for and after their breakfast and as I entered myself, I immediately stopped and looked around for the one person I could really do with having a stern talking to right now, and just like magic, he suddenly appeared right next to me with a smile that I could quite happily wipe off of his face.

"Good morning Hermione" He chirped, that stupid smirk spread across his face.

After not replying to him, he rolled his eyes and decided to try and start conversation with me once again. I just stared him down, and I think he caught on.

"Why the long face and... angry eyes?" He asked sarcastically, clearly studying my facial expression well.

That was enough for me to begin to erupt at him.

"How COULD  you?!" I shouted, looking him dead in the eyes.

He jumped back slightly and the smirk fell, he was now giving me a smug face like he'd achieved something amazing, when really, he'd only achieved a possible crack in not only mine and his friendship, but his and Harry's too. He looked around to make sure no-one was looking, but honestly, I kind of wanted them to.

"Oh what Hermione, what AWFUL thing have I done now?" He asked rhetorically.

"Awful? I think you know what AWFUL thing you've done. In fact, I think its rather appalling, disgusting, actually." I growled at him, making sure to look him in the eyes as I did so.

"And you're telling me he didn't deserve this?" Ron began, his eyebrows now furrowing in anger.

"Deserve what, Ron? Humiliation from someone who's meant to be YOUR BEST FRIEND?! " I exclaimed, and I could suddenly feel more eyes starting to turn towards us, and they were BURNING.

"Wouldn't you want revenge if your so called best friend hid something like this from you? Oh wait" He paused and pretended to think for a second, my face now burning.

"HE DID! " Ron argued back, and I suddenly felt myself slam my books down on the nearest table.

The slam made him jump, but he didn't give up running his mouth. I was about ready to serve this boy in his place, but I knew better than to use any physical contact, instead I trusted my words to sting better.

"Well at least i'm not an envious little twerp but instead, supportive of MY  best friend" I said between gritted teeth, and as soon as those words left my mouth, I suddenly felt a pang of guilt hit me in the pit of my stomach, but, I wouldn't show it. Not now, anyway.

"I don't know what part of 'keeping secrets from your best friend is wrong' you don't understand Hermione, you're meant to be smart, remember?" He retaliated and pointed his finger to his head and tapped it.

Biting the inside of my cheek, I realised how much that actually hurt me deep down, and yet I still didn't want to show weakness, I was strong, and I will continue to stand strong until the last word of this pathetic excuse of an argument.

"Not that i'm sorry for any of this, but he's still our best friend, Ron" I spat at him, turning to grab my books off the table.

Looking over my shoulder, I noticed pretty much everyone in this hall had stopped eating their breakfasts and were now staring at the both of us, the group of girls included and looking at Alyssa, she was giving me the hard evils. I didn't care if she was Ron's girlfriend or not, she should know what he was doing is wrong.

That's if she even knew that it was him.

Keeping eye contact with her for a second, I decided to direct this next sentence to her.

"Keep a closer eye on your boyfriend next time, will you?" I said sternly, before turning to face Ron once more and locking eyes with him.

After a few seconds, I walked past him, making sure to knock his arm ever so slightly.

I walked out, and I didn't look back.

The tears began to pool my eyes and instantly, I made a B-line for the girls bathrooms.
