Chosen Song For This Part: Forever - The Ivy

Sitting around this table had got quite boring, but at least I had Crabbe and Goyle to keep me sane. I hadn't seen Potter this morning after our little...introduction. It didn't go to plan which, deep down, felt quite rough. I hoped that maybe he would've made a great alliance being that he's
THE  Harry Potter.

Talking away to Crabbe and Goyle got interrupted when the three of us heard a large group of voices making their way through the doors of the hall, the three of us looked up to find that the voices belonged to a large group of girls who were making their way in. I recognised three of them as my house members, but the rest of them? Hadn't got a clue who they were.

Upon further inspection, I realised that maybe I DID  recognise some of them, from the train ride to the school. Secretly i'd admitted to myself that I had been rude towards them for no particular reason, I just felt the need to blow off some steam. My father never helped with the build-up, he mostly was the reasoning for me to loose my cool.

But I could never talk about it to someone.

The group had split off and it looked like they had planned to re-group after breakfast, surely they didn't ALL have the same classes together, that would be unfair on other students AND the system. The three members of our Slytherin house were headed over and myself, Crabbe and Goyle all decided to spark conversation with each other.

"The blonde one has an attitude" Crabbe pointed out. I felt a smile come to my face.

"I think she might be worse than you, Draco" Goyle commented, before laughing it off.

I shoved them both playfully and received and in-sync 'Oi' out of the both of them. I leant in to them and decided to be honest with them.

"Personally, I think we should get to know the three of them" I proposed.

Crabbe and Goyle both looked at each other in surprise and in agreement, they both nodded at each other, then me, to which I nodded back.

I felt a wave of happiness rush over me but it was quickly blocked out by the negative thoughts spilling into my mind.

What if it's just another failure of offering friendship?  '
Why would they want to be friends with me? I was rude to one of them on the train earlier'
'You're crazy if you think you'd have more friends than just Crabbe and Goyle, even Harry Potter didn't want to be friends with you '

The thoughts kept filling into my head, like water overflowing a pool. Actually, the thoughts were more like crashing waves again a hard set of rocks. When you thought they'd just flow over, they'd bounce off and come right back. I decided to try and shake them off.

I heard a movement on the chair in front of me, and there, taking their seat, was the blonde girl and her two sidekicks. I tried to bring my tough act to the surface, but the intrusive thoughts had beaten and bruised that part of me for now.

So I stayed quiet, and began eating my breakfast.

"Hi, I'm Crabbe" I heard Crabbe introduce himself, he was holding a friendly hand out at one of the girls next to the left of blondie in front of me.

'There's no way they're going to accept our friendship offers ' I sighed at the thought of that.

In the corner of my eye, I saw the girl look at the other two, nod and smile. She took Crabbe's had and shook it.

"Aubrey" She introduced, and I felt shock completely take over my body.

There was no way that this was happening.

Aubrey and Crabbe began to have their own conversation over their breakfast, and looking to the left of me, I saw Goyle introducing him to the other girl seated in front of him. She looked slightly worried about taking his hand, but the blonde girl put a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gave her a gentle grin. This increased the girls confidence and she shook Goyle's hand.

"Luna."

Now it was left to me and my own devices, I thought about offering my hand in friendship, but at the same time, this girl already knew who I was, there was no need to introduce myself, but as much as I was too worried to, I swallowed the negatives down, and did it anyway.

"Hi, I'm-" I was cut off by the girl offering her hand to me.

"Draco, You're Draco." She grinned, her hand still waiting to be shook, and gently, I did.

"What's your name?" I asked politely, as I took a sip of my apple juice.

"My names Alexis, but you can call me Lex." The girl crossed her arms and leant them on the table. "You've probably picked the girls' names up"

"I can see that both of our trio's are getting along smoothly" I chuckled, crossing my arms and leaning them on the table, too.

I saw a smile creep onto her face once more, but then, it turned into a smirk and she uncrossed her arms and sipped her orange juice.

"I told you we'd get along just fine." She giggled.

We both sat there in conversation, and eventually all of us, including her friends were having one big discussion over the table.

'You know, maybe this will just work out for me for once ' the small voice of positivity that I recognised, echoed through my head.

'They're going to be not only good alliances, but good friends, too.

'Don't mess this friendship up, you'll regret it if you do. '

That was the moment that I couldn't agree more. I took the advice, and from there onwards, I stuck to following it.
