The melody filled Tom's subconscious as he downed another glass of scotch. She had hated scotch. He could laugh at the memories that floated through his head of her unconcealed disgust at the British obsession with the drink.He looked at the photograph to his right, the beautiful woman he'd fallen in love with accidentally. But that was always the way wasn't it? He glanced at the violin propped up on its stand and the Piano in the corner of the room,
He missed her. 'You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss, a song is just a song as time goes on,' her memory murmured, and all he wanted on this morbid anniversary was to touch her again, to reach out and hold her, to hear her lovely voice, to speak to her, to listen to her sing,
"But it's your fault I'm gone isn't it, darling?"
He shut his eyes and shot a spell blindly at that dammed piano. On some level he hated that she'd done this to him. He hated, he hated that he didn't hate her.
He glanced at the time. Five am. He'd been up since four. Tom shut his eyes and rubbed his face. It seemed fitting enough considering this had all started with the words,
