Thank the lord for New York. The whole entire state is peaceful. I couldn't have asked for more than just peaceful music, in a cafe, drinking coffee.
I leaned back in my chair, taking in the refreshing foggy air that mixed in with the smell of coffee.
I grabbed my phone and pulled out my earbuds out of my pocket. I scrolled through Spotify and picked my main playlist. I plugged in the cord and placed one of the pods into my ear. I wish everyday was like this, peaceful and quiet.
I was having a grand ol' time to myself, until a certain someone popped up. It was the same boy from the subway. For some reason, I keep bumping into him. Not even a week into this business trip and I've already seen his face once everyday. This time, his outfit was simple.
He wore a white hoodie with a gray hood and gray jeans, the ends were cuffed. He also wore long white socks and black platform boots, just like mine. Over his hoodie was a white poncho that went down to his thighs. His accessories were a ton of piercings on his ear, all black, and a thin headband that ran across his forehead.
He went inside the coffee shop, and came back out after 8 minutes. I don't know why I counted the minutes but I did. He sat beside me on the bench, not necessarily close though.
We both sat there in silence, just sipping our coffee, until he spoke up.
"I find it odd we're always running into each other." he chuckled. I was starstruck. This man's voice was so calming and pleasing to listen to, it felt like I was talking to a mother trying to calm down her baby from crying.
"Indeed, it's very odd." I said while pulling the earpod out of my ear. For some reason I thought I would look and sound cool.
"I suppose you're new to New York--" he paused for a moment, "excuse me. I suppose you're new to the states." he corrected himself. This man's way of speech certainly doesn't fit his aesthetic.
"Why yes, I am new. But I do know english." I pointed out, this conversation feels like we're talking in the 19s.
"That's a key thing, learn some english before you come to the states," he turned his gaze at me. I still had my head turned forward. "that's what they always say."
"The past few days I've seen you, I must say you don't look american at all." I turned my head towards him. Our eyes met. He was staring right at me. His face was even more beautiful now that I finally took a good look at it.
"I'm not american at all. I was originally born in asia but our family moved here for a better life." he slightly smiled. I only nodded.
"My name is Yamaguchi Tadashi." he reached out his hand. I looked at it for a few seconds. "Come on, don't leave me hanging." he giggled. I felt blood running down my noise.
"Tsukishima Kei." I took his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Tsukki."
