It takes her a while to process the events, but my curiosity gets the best of me. One glance towards her is all it takes for me to admire her. Maybe it's the way she speaks, or the way she cares for her flowers, or the way she blushes every time I speak. Her name just finds a place in my heart, and all of sudden it takes over me. I start to show my true colors to her, but she doesn't follow. She made me forget that I am an indie singer.
I want to know what she's thinking, am I showing too much? I think I am starting to like myself around her. She's taken aback when I ask her to dance with me. I really want her to. Just when my back starts to ache, I feel a soft tingle on my hand. "I would love to." She's beaming, she's like an angel in paradise when she smiles, and it makes my heart beat faster. I don't know what I am feeling, but I am willing to explore. Slowly her eyes grow smaller. "What if people would notice me, I am not a guest for your family party." She looks down. "Look at me Renee." I lift her chin, and there I feel a spark of electricity running through my veins. "We sound like lovers who can't be around each other." She chuckles, making my heart bloom back again. She isn't wrong.
She's close to me, but not that close either. "Everyone's too busy having fun, I don't think anyone would notice you." I say, with hope that she would come along. No movement. "Trust me." She lets go of my hand and ties her hair in a loose ponytail with a rubber band. "Sounds like a plan." Her confidence peeks and that's another reason to admire her.
She gasps as soon as we are inside. "Woah, it looks so grand, you get a bigger picture from what I saw." She whispers lowly, then takes back what she said. "Did you come here before?" I ask, walking to the edge of the dance floor and making sure I am facing her. "I might have gotten a little peek." Her voice followed, facing me. "I guess both of our curiosities got the best of us." I take her hand in mine as I bow and she curtseys.
We sway from side to side, "Twirl," I say, as her floral dress twirls gracefully and she's back with her hand placed on my shoulder. "You're not so bad at this." She speaks, and the tune changes. The piano begins it's solo, and suddenly the atmosphere changes- people take turns dancing in and out, the notes play a scene in my head.
The walls are filled with detailed art. They are more like church kind of art. The luxurious fabric floating down the stairs, as the footsteps get bigger and bigger. I am only a few feet away from her, yet she never fails to take me away. She looks like a princess with a no crown. She doesn't need a crown to be a princess. She picks up the edges of her gown and runs to me. Her arms wrap around my waist, and her head rests on my chest. I wonder if she can hear my heart beat, beating for her. Within seconds, we move from one corner to the other corner. Step - one - two, step - one - two. We spin and create our own style together. Her moves synchronize with mine. I let her twirl, and fall back on my arm. I carry her up to the ceiling and spin along as her laughter echoes. When I put her down, our eyes are fixed at each other.
"OH NO!"
