Third Person POV

"Oscar lost his mother very early on in his life. His father became abusive, and he and Morris were sent to live with their uncle Wiesel." Kloppman starts, sighing. "Wiesel was also abusive, and he helps Snyder beat the two boys if one of them doesn't beat up other kids in the Refuge, or disobeys them. That's basically all he told me, it's probably just a summery of his past."

The boys who were listening, which was basically all of the Newsies minus Race, look at each other and Kloppman in shock.

"What are you guys-" Race starts, causing all of the boys turn to him, shocked.

"Race!" They shout at the same time.

Race flinches at the noise level, as all of the boys run over to him.

"Morning Racer, glad you're awake. As for Jack, glad you took my advice." Spot states, coming into the room. The boys turn to him, shocked, and Mr. Kloppman laughs as Spot flips a key to him. "Thanks Klopp." He nods.

"Heya Spot. Anyone wanna tell me what happened or what you were talking about?" Race asks, as Spot sits next to him.

"You got soaked, and Oscar saved you" Jack whispers. Race's eyes widen.

"Oscar Delancey?" He questions. The boys all nod. Race blushes slightly.

"We were talking about Oscar and Morris' past, because-" Jack starts. Spot cuts him off, shooting him a not-so-subtle glare.

"Because," He glares at Jack, "Jacky-boy here is not being very forgiving. We confronted Oscar about saving you, and Jack looked ready to punch him, and was being rude the whole time."

"Oh my gosh Jack, what are you? An idiot?" Race asks. Jack goes to defend himself, but Spot speaks first.

"Yes. Yes he is" Spot answers. Jack glares at him.

"Shut your mouth, Conlon" Jack hisses. Spot stands up, throwing him a look.

"Wanna go Kelly?" He snaps, putting his fists up. Jack stands up, ready to fight him.

"Okay, let's not start fights right now" Albert interjects, as he grabs Spot with Race, and Davey and Crutchie grab Jack.

Spot huffs, sitting back down next to Race.

"So you realize that he doesn't do it because he wants to?" Spot asks Jack, who reluctantly nods. He still didn't trust Oscar and Morris.

"It doesn't mean I'm gonna trust them" Jack mumbles. Spot stands up, getting angry again.

"Oh come on Kelly! He saved Race! Without him, Race would be dead right now!" Spot shouts, as Jack stands up.

Race's hands go flying to cover his ears, as silent tears stream down his face.

Albert, JoJo, and Elmer go over to him, hugging him. Albert covers Race's ears, as Elmer hugs him, and JoJo holds his hands.

"They've literally beat up so many street kids and Newsies in general! I get that he saved Race, but you can't immediately make me trust them. You just do since you're there friends and you have a crush on one of them!" Jack shouts back. Spot balls his fists.
