- Chapter 8 - Explaining -
Warning: Soaking, Abuse
Third Person POVEverything hurts.
It's literally all I can think about.
What happened? Why am I in so much pain?
In a matter of seconds after Oscar gains awareness of his surroundings, his memories come back.
Morris!
Oscar shoots up, injuring himself more. He yelps in pain, as he falls back onto the bed he was laying in.
Where am I? Where is Morris?
Oscar starts to panic, when someone's voice snaps him out of it.
"Oscar." It's Race. "It's Race, can you hear me?"
Oscar weakly nods his head. Race smiles a little to himself.
"Morris is right here, want to see him?" Race asks Oscar, who weakly nods again.
Oscar feels himself being picked up by someone.
Then, he was placed on another bed, and someone's arms wrapped around him.
He snuggled closer, realizing that it was his brother. Morris hugs him close. "Hey Osc, it's okay. I'm okay, you're okay. Everyone's okay."
"Where a-are we?" Oscar whispers to his brother, his voice muffled by Morris' shirt.
"Brooklyn. Apparently you ran to Race before you passed out, well I ran to Spot, or tried to at least" Morris explains. So that's what happened.
"We brought Morris here, patched him up, then I sent Smokes and Ace to find you, Oscar." Spot explains. "Ace and Smokes went to the Manhattan Lodging House and there they were patching you up, so they brought you here."
Oscar nods weakly as a thank you. He was in too much pain to do anything, and he could tell from Morris' voice that his brother also was.
"You too look tired and in pain. Why don't you get some sleep? We'll be here, with food and water when you wake up" Jack suggests. Jack? He's helping us? Oscar questions, thinking to himself.
"You don't have to help us, you already don't get enough food and water as it is. We're just more of a burden to you, besides, we've done horrible things to you" Morris states, trying to get up.
Oscar feels someone push him back down on the bed, as he snuggles closer to his brother.
Oscar hears Spot growl a little bit, mainly for Morris calling himself a burden and saying those things.
"We get it. Race brought up a good point earlier; I've done things that I shouldn't have to protect these boys because they're like my brothers. You do this stuff to protect each other" Jack states. Morris looks at him in awe, not believing what he was hearing.
Oscar hears scattered 'Nice Race' and 'Smartie' whispers around the room.
Oscar snuggles closer into his brother's side. He hadn't opened his eyes once, and he was getting tired again.
