- Chapter 6 - Meetups -
Warning: Fluff
Third Person POV

Over the next few weeks, Race and Oscar would meet on the rooftop almost everyday. Most Newsies knew they would, and Morris also knew.

With Oscar around, the Newsies noticed that Race had started to become happier. A lot happier than normal.

Even if they didn't fully trust Oscar yet, the loved seeing him so happy, and for that reason, they were grateful for Oscar.

Even Jack, who trusted Oscar the least, was less rude to Oscar. He would smile at Oscar when Oscar handed him his papes, and even said less rude things to him and his brother every morning.

This of course, made Race happier, because at least there was a chance that they could get along in his mind, and there was.

He was also happy because it was his first week selling alone again.

With Oscar, he was also happier. Morris could see it in his eyes.

Even after the beatings from Snyder and Wiesel, the light in his eyes wouldn't go away since he knew that Race was there for him.

The two boys were counting down the days till Morris turned 18, which was exactly fifteen days away.

How much bad could happen in two weeks? However much, the two boys didn't want to find out.

No one knew what happened on the rooftop with Oscar and Race, except those two boys. The only things they sometimes heard was singing and laughing.

Sometimes, the boys in the Lodge would crowd around the open window, just to listen to their duets or laughter.

They were both good singers, and their laughter made anyway who was listening smile or even laugh.

There were a few sentences that they just barely heard from the two boys;

"I literally asked Jack how to sell papes, and he gave me this lecture about being cute, flirting, or lying. I chose the first and second one."

"I like your flirty side."

"That was so bad, it's a little funny."

"If I'm in a corny mood, I like corn."

"I'm always in a corny mood."

"The first mistake I made was waking up this morning, but it's worth it when I see you."

"You have a cute nose. Boop."

"We've talked about this; you are not SASSAY if you say 'I'm Sassy'!" *Snaps fingers.*

"Stop swinging your hips, Higgins! You're killing me!"

Currently, Race was walking past a few of the Brooklyn Newsies after selling.

He was grinning as he waved to the ones he knew, and they waved back at him.

"Oi! Higgins! You're looking happy today!" Spot shouts to him, smiling a bit as he jumps off of his perch, and walks over to Race. Ace, Smokes, and Hotshot were following him.
