Turn into an Unholy?
That seemed to be the only question running through my mind as all three Unholy's watched me, waiting for a reaction, What was I supposed to say exactly? Oh yeah, please turn me into something I completely have despised for 8 years so that my whole life is complete?
My head is throbbing slightly, either from my lack of sleep or the amount of brain activity I was using at the moment. I stayed quiet as the vampires quietly waited, all of their postures rigid.
I technically don't even get a choice though! I mean, I'm a lone Unstationed with a katana and a heavy sack of crap against three Unholy. Fate is definitely not being nice right now. I bet it was Karma.
"So?" Carlos asked, his voice low and eyebrows raised. He crosses his arms, which just make him look bigger and more...scary. I'm not a wimp, far from it. As an Unstationed, you can't survive being a pathetic coward. Some learnt that the hard way.
"Look Valerie, I was once like you; Unstationed and alone. Frankly, I hated The Unholy, they took my parents, but when I was about to be banished to The Outer, Stephan saved me. Being a vampire isn't always what I thought it was," Marly suddenly explains, physically shuddering at the mention of The Outer. "You probably don't trust us, we are heartless bloodsuckers who feed on Stationed and rule over The Inner like we are God, but you have to understand. It's for a cause. The Cause."
"The Cause?" I repeat, my mind still processing the story she had just spoken about.
"It's-"
"Marly," Stephan calls, his whole demeanour changing from rigid to calm. "Please try not to tell her everything before she's even accepted. We don't want any others realising what's going on."
Marly blushes, obviously embarrassed on how Stephan had caught her out. She smiles softly at me, trying to reassure me.
"I'll consider. Though, that means that you need to tell me everything,"
"Oh yes, please tell us everything. I mean, I'm rather interested now," a voice says from behind me.
All three vampires turn rigid when they spot what's behind me. I turn around slowly to see two boys and a girl standing literally 10 steps away from me, their pale faces giving away that they are Unholy's. The one who spoke has brown hair and blue eyes, ringed with red. He tilts his head to the side as he studies me.
"You all followed me?" Stephan asks, raising his eyebrows at Carlos, Marly and the newcomers. The two vampires standing behind the boy who spoke are hidden in the dark so I can't see their faces at all. Stephan completely ignores what the guy said, turning around and glaring at Carlo and Marcy.
"We didn't know they would follow us!" Marcy exclaims, shooting daggers at the people behind me.
"Come off it Marcy, you know we were behind you the whole time," the guy scoffs, earning him yet another glare. Using their bickering as a distraction, I slowly inch towards Stephan who actually looks rather amused by their bickering.
"If you children are finished?" Stephan asks, the amusement literally rolling off his words.
"Oh yes, master dearest," Marly answers, sarcasm dripping from her tone.
"Ryker?" Stephan prompts, his eyebrows still raised.
"Yeah, yeah," the brown haired newcomer answers.
Stephan nods, happy with the answer and then starts walking away from all of us. All of our reactions are the same; curious and shocked. Like hello? You just left five Unholy and an Unstationed over here?
"Come along. We're in Sector 5 and I'd rather not have another confrontation tonight. Especially with daylight approaching at this fast rate. Turning into ash is not on my bucket list," Stephan calls, waving us forward. I speedily go and walk next to him, still not trusting the newcomers.
"Who are they?" I whisper to Stephan, motioning behind me at where I presume the new vampires are walking behind me.
"Bette question," a voice says in my ear. "Who are you?"
Recognising the voice as Ryker's I swiftly respond.
"Valerie Cross."
"Well Valerie, what are you exactly doing with Stephan and the Blood Bound's? I didn't analyse you as a giver. Especially seeing you aren't Stationed," Ryker informs me, gesturing to my left wrist which is on full display as my sleeves are pushed up to my elbows.
"Who exactly are you?" Was my excellent reply, pushing my sleeves back down to my wrists.
"I'm Ryker. I make up another one of Stephan's Blood Bounds. Wasn't that obvious enough?" Ryker questions, his tone playful, but detached,
Before I could answer him, Stephan disappears from beside me, making me stop and look around. Someone taps my ankle lightly, which makes me look down to see Stephan in a cave like structure. I hop down, noticing how Ryker swiftly lands on his feet where as I land with a thud.
Inside the cave was stools which were kind of stacked in a corner. Stephan completely ignores them, walking slightly deeper into the cave before sliding down the wall to sit on his butt.
I hurriedly sit next to him, crossing my legs. Marcy sits next to me whereas Ryker and Carlos sit opposite us. The two others sit on either of the openings. There's a feint glow inside the cave which illuminates everyone's pale faces which I use to my advantage. Looking thoroughly at both of the people who accompanied Ryker, it made my heart break again.
They looked exactly the same as they had a month ago, just paler and their irises rimmed with red.
Getting over my initial shock, I'm able to choke out their names, barely believing the names that come out of my voice in bare whisper.
"Julie? Marco?"
