Chapter 6: Sick

Octave isn't really suprised that Tatsu has a huge crush on Amy, I mean he's his best friend after all and they didn't keep secrets from each other.

It was the day before Amy's birthday, Tatsu was eating breakfast while thinking for a gift for the person he admires a lot. He wanted to make it special, to make it stand out, he just wants to impress her.

He scrolled through pinterest, google, instagram, and he just can't seem to think of anything.

"Ugh." he ruffled his hair.

"What's wrong?" Asked his mother from the opposite side of the table.

"Nothing mom, I'm just stressed because of all the schoolworks." Tatsu lied.

"Oh ok." His mother said less worried.

Soon Tatsu commuted to school like always, but he still can't find the perfect gift.

Tatsu hid his phone in his jacket pocket once he finally arrived at school.

Once he finally arrived at his classroom, he was exhausted, considering that it was on the 4th floor and his heavy ass bag filled with books did not help.

Like always, his eyes were looking for Amy, just wanting to know she is present.

He did found her... but she looked ill. She had dark circles around her eyes, flushed cheeks, and half-closed eyes.

"Hey, you okay?" Tatsu asked obviously concerned.

"I'll be fine." Amy replied with a cough after.

"Ok then, feel better soon." Tatsu patted her back with care.

He started to blush, touching her soft sweater she was wearing, his cheeks started turn into a bright shade of red. He stood from the seat he was sitting to next to Amy and looked away so she wouldn't see his bright red tinted cheeks.

Once he sat on his assigned seat, he kept taking glances at Amy, he can't stop worrying about her, she looked pitiful, and it's even her birthday tomorrow.

As soon as lunch passed by, Tatsu walked down the hallways making his way to the canteen bringing his lunch box. He sat at the usual table the circle of friends sat at.

"Where's Amy?" Tatsu asked, looking around hoping to find her.

"Didn't you hear? She fainted just earlier and had to go home." Chew informed.

"O-Oh." Tatsu said looking down to his food.

"Don't be sad Tats, she'll be alright, she gave me a text right now that she gained enough strength to walk." Octave comforted him patting the back of his head.

But that didn't help, Tatsu cared about her so much... too much...

Soon classes were dismissed and Tatsu tried to look for Octave since he promised they will go shopping after for Amy's birthday.

Where is that dude... Tatsu thought while sitting on a bench outside the campus.

"Tatsu!" Octave shouted running to him.

"Where have you been?" Tatsu crossed his arms.

"I was at the library again, sorry I overtimed... I had lots of work to do." Octave explained.

"Oh ok, are we still going to the mall?" Tatsu asked still looking sad about Amy's condition.

"Absolutely, we don't want a sad Amy don't we?" Octave teased trying to cheer him up.

"Duh." Tatsu suddenly said, making Octave stare at him for a while.

"Wow you've changed." Octave chuckled.

"Well, you already know I have a crush on her so..." Tatsu shrugged after.

Octave chuckled again.

Once they arrived at the mall, the two explored the mall and hoping to find a perfect gift for the birthday celebrant tomorrow.

They went in book stores, department stores, clothing stores, accessory stores, the grocery, toy stores, store stores, and a lot more that made their legs hurt from walking.

"You think this is good enough?" Tatsu looked at what he bought, a small, cheap but pretty Super Mario mushroom lamp that will definently look cute in anyone's room.

"Of course! She'll love it. Even if you didn't give her a gift she'll still thank you for existing." Octave cheered up his bestfriend who looked insecure.

"I guess so..." Tatsu uttered.

"I haven't seen what you've bought for Amy, can I see?" Tatsu tried to take a peek at the paper bag Octave was carrying.

"I just bought a two small plushies." Octave pulled the two small plushies out of the paper bag... a cactus and a camel plushie.

"That's so cute. I bet she'll like that even more that this..." Tatsu put the lamp back in his bag.

"Hey c'mon, don't be so insecure about what gift you're going to give. It's the thought that counts." Octave put his gift in his bag as well, "Let's go home?".

"Sure." Tatsu replied.

In his room, he stared at the gift he bought for Amy, will she really like this? Tatsu sighed and just grabbed the wrapping paper he bought with the lamp.

Welp, I'm just gonna hope atleast she'll appreciate it.

After he wrapped the gift, he decorated it with bows and wrote a little note too... how cute. He gave so much effort to the gift like his life depended on it.

After he had finished, he kept stuffed it in his bag so he wouldn't forget it the morning after. And soon drifted off to sleep, cuddling his pillow with the thought of her like always...
