On the match day came another headache, for some reason Ganguly's shirt was not there...and as the manager looked scared,
Dada: Its ok.....I think there has been some mixup...we will figure something out...
'HEIGHTS OF IRRESPONSIBLITY....players ke shirt nahi hai.....kabhi inko physio ka pataa nahi hota....sab agar hume hi kar na hai toh management ka fayda kya...' and not only the manager but everyone in the dressing room was scared....cause the man who was shouting was none other than Rahul Dravid, the always calm, Rahul Dravid...
Dada: Its ok Jam....mil jayega koi solution, calm down....(and Dada felt ridiculous at even asking Rahul to calm down), as he signalled the manager to run away....
As everyone tried to find a way, with MS snuggling to Dada that we won't also play if his Dada doesn't.....
Yuv: Arre...Dadaaaa...yeh apna Sonu hai na...woh toh hain nahi team mein....uska shirt pehenlo
And Dada looked at Yuvi incredously....God he really needs to learn the meaning of tact,
Yuv(to Sonu): Aeee...tera shirt de re...khada kya hai???(and was already pushing Sonu)...
And Dada wasn't sure about it, cause he knew Sonu was not comfortable with him,
As Sonu brought the shirt, Dada looked on confused....
Dada: Ummm...its ok...if you...
Rahul cut him off: Chal Dadi....tujhe open karna hai....jaldiiiii...
And Dada hurried to wear the shirt cause today Rahul seemed to be in a pretty bad mood......and he did not want to get scolded in front of the kids
As Dada hit the winning runs wearing Sonu's shirt with a whooping 98......team India erupted with joy.
As everyone congratulated Dada, Dada pulled Sonu along with him...telling everybody how it was Sonu's shirt that had caused the magic.....how wonderful the kid is to offer his shirt......thanking him now and then...
And Sonu couldn't help but feel he had been wrong all along. As Dada claimed he would take Sonu for dinner after tomorrow's match, there was a series of protest of how they wanted to offer their shirts...how they were his first kid, favorite kid...but Dada stuck to his words.
However, unfortunately the next day Dada got out at 13 and Sonu was terribly sad......however Dada patted his head as he came back, 'Don't worry the dinner is still onn', which made Sonu grin, though he doesn't know why he felt happy to get a treat from Dada but he did.
As India won both the matches and the camp was in a merry-mood, Dada took Sonu to a nearby restaurant.
While having dinner,
Dada: I know Suresh u don't like me much....(as Sonu tried to interrupt)...its ok.....and I guess I know the reason.
And Sonu just looked down.
Dada: Everyone in the team loves Rahul as much as they do to me....its just dat they were meeting me after so long that they were just being clingy.....I promise I am not trying to take your Rahul bhai's place...he is very special....very very special, even to me...he is my best friend.....(and Dada didn't know how to convey that he also loves Rahul such a lot)
And Sonu was embarrassed....Rahul Bhai was right all- along, this man is too good...
Dada: Sureshhh..
Sonu: U can call me, Sonu...everyone in the camp who are close to me do so...(making Dada smile)
And Dada knew he has another kid added to the list. He might be Rahul's kid but he was his kid too....and Dada has always been there for Sonu....from treating the kid wen he was at Kolkata for a Ranji match to just lift his mood...to get him to practice at his own house pitch as Sonu was also left-handed like him.
That night as Sonu rushed into Rahul's room,
Sonu: Rahul bhai....Rahul bhai...you were right.....Dada is very goooddd....he is very nice....he is...(but got interrupted)
It was Dada who emerged from inside the the room as he was in Jammy's room only as usual.....Sonu couldn't help but hug dem both together. He was tortured by his seniors and now he has the world's best seniors to call his brother...wat more happiness does he want.
And thats the end.
