We'd just ordered coffee, as we were just asking questions to each other.

"So, chèrie. Tell me. Who are you really?"

"Ah. Where to begin. I was born and raised in Belgium by two amazing parents. But I soon realized that I never wanted to stay there, with their government being nothing more than a bunch of toddlers. So I set off to England. As a child I was inspired by great minds so I started studying different sciences. After some, admittedly, crazy expirements, I majored one being primarily sciences pertaining to awakening energy. Then I ended up working for this hell of a project called the Temaris project."

"And you've never partied? Never dated before?", she said softy.

"Well. I have... Things just... they just..."

I looked at my hands. I could still hear their voices.

'What a wimp!'
'Loser!'
'Freak!'
'Did you honestly think I could love someone like you?'
'You're just not good enough!'

"Chèrie? You are shaking."

I looked up. "Oh. I-It's nothing. As I said, things never quite...worked out."

Her face had a strange expression on it. Was she worried about me?

"Very well. You had been to france. You've seen me perform."

"Aw yeah. That was amazing, by the way!"

She chuckled. "Merci."

"De rien.", I responded.

"So. What makes an efficient assassin fall in love with the likes of me?"

"You have something about you, chèrie. Some je ne sais quoi. I intend to find out."
Her eyes turned more seductive. And I have to be honest, it worked.

The way she looked at me, the way she flirted. She was making her way into my heart.

Saved by the coffee being placed upon our table. I promptly paid and got a swig of my latte.

"Aaah. I've missed this coffee. Did you know that in England, coffee isn't as popular as any human would want?"

She laughed softly, taking a sip from her espresso.

"Considering how fast coffee runs out at the base, I can understand.", she said softly.

I looked at the purple lady in front of me and I felt a warmth growing in my chest.

It just felt right.

We spent a few hours talking and just enjoying each others company.

We walked back to base, arm in arm. And I just felt how my heart was singing.

"Amélie. I have to be honest. It has been...a long time since I've ever had this much fun on a date. Thank you. It's been a blast today."

"Shall I understand that you like me then, chèrie?", she said seductively.

I chuckled. "Yes. I like you. But I'm still going to ask you to not touch anything at the lab."

"Fair enough.", she said.

Timeskip to arriving at the base

She stood in front of my door, as I was heading in.

"Thank you a-." I was immediately stopped by her lips on mine. I hung unto the doorframe as I couldn't believe what was happening.

But it worked. I melted into the kiss as she psuhed me in, pushing me onto the bed.

"Wait.", I huffed.

"What?"

"Not yet. I mean. Don't get me wrong. I want to. Badly. But. Not on our first date. I mean. I want it...No, I need it to be real. To be out of love. We've known each other for a day."

She smiled. She kissed me and bit softly on my lip, making my urges greater.

"Very well, chèrie. Next time then."

With that she stood up and turned, swaying her hips.

"So, I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Of course, chèrie. Tomorrow is our second date."

"Okay. Wait, huh? What time?"

"All day.", she turned back and winked, after which she left the room.

I just laid down and smiled to myself. It really happened. Amélie Lacroix loves me.

I laughed out loud. I got up and looked to myself in the mirror.

"Look at you! Amélie loves you! It's finally here. The life you've been working towards. And it feels so good! Haha!"

I sat back down. I turned on the tv and just enjoyed the afterfeeling of being loved.

The next day

I was hard at work once again. I was getting ready to start performing tests on a small bit of the energy I had carefully extracted of the nuke in order to attempt to convert it to proper energy.

I heard the footsteps.

"I don't know who you are, but again, stay away from all calculations and tools, thank you."

"Pendejo, how did you hear me?"

"You still have to walk on the floor. And I am once again in hyperfocus, o every disturbance is just a major inconvenience."

Sombra seemed to materialize next to me.

"So, cabron, why are you shining?"

"Probably the energy around my hands."

"No! I mean why do you seem so happy?"

"Well...just a really good date- I mean day! Yesterday."

"So you did take her out! I was wondering where you two went. So, how was it?"

I laid my tools down.

"This doesn't leave this room, Sombra."

"You can trust me. Now spit it out."

I could no longer contain myself.

"She's amazing Sombra! Did you know she used to be the best ballet dancer in whole of europe? Well, thats what I think anyway."

She looked pretty surprised at this.

"Did she tell you that?"

"No! Sombra, I saw her back in France. She was so amazing. She moved so graciously and so coordinated. Seemingly taking pleasure in every inch of movement. I knew I had seen that face somewhere before."

"I didn't even know that..."

"What? Oh Sombra, you should've been there. She hasnt changed a bit, except for maybe her skin color. Luckily, my favourite color is purple."

She sat down on the side of my desk.

"Do you know why her skin is like that?"

I looked up to her.

"The rumour goes that a professor experimented on her. No one knows why. But they put poison into her body and pumped it in there. Now, every emotion takes tremendous effort. Which means, Y/n, she must really like you."

I felt pained knowing this. But poison...

"What poison?"

"No-one knows."

I looked at my notes. It felt as if it no longer mattered.

"Well, I'll stop keeping you of your work. Talk later, cabron."

With that she walked off.

Poisonous treatment, huh?
