We sat in our balcony seats enjoying the play. As a child I was always fond of plays, even though I didn't have as many opportunities as I wished to go view them.
I was having a blast. The humour was on point, the music immersed the experience even further, the dialogue was well written. And the romance. I have to admit. I am a little bit of a romantic. Seeing the protagonists love grow throughout the story. It made me sigh out loud.
"Something wrong, chèrie?"
"Oh. Isn't it romantic? The way they need each other. The way they portray their hearts yearning and soaring whenever they meet?"
I sat leaning forward, my head resting on one of my hands.
"Are you truly such a romantic?"
"Always been. Real love. It's a thing to behold. Some have an odd encounter, others, well...aren't so lucky. Until recently I counted myself among the latter."
I sat back, looking at my hands, a smile still on my face. Then I turned to look at Amélie. "And then I met you. You've saved me from the boring life I lived. From the loneliness. You've shown me something I could only dream of."
Her lips pursed in another smile.
"Don't miss the play, chèrie."
I looked back to the play and enjoyed it for the rest of it.
Timeskip to when we walk out of the theater
She held onto your arm as you walked.
"I mean, can you believe it? They loved each other so much and yet it somehow wasn't enough to save them from doom."
"Chèrie, it was just a play."
"Still tho. Why does it always have to be so dramatic? Can't there be a happy ending? Just once in a while."
With that she kissed you on the cheek. You looked at her.
"Happy ending.", she exclaimed. You just smiled at her. You were walking through a park and just taking in the sights. You stopped and turned her around to face you.
"Amèlie. I know what has happened to your emotions. I know it hurts to even just showing them to me."
Her eyes looked puzzled. Fearful? As if a fish out of the water. But it didn't matter. I was determined.
"I promise you, Amèlie. I will fix it. I've worked sorta on different forms of biological engineering. I know about the poison. If I can figure out a way to reverse engineer that, I can find a way to reverse it's effects. Or at the very least reduce the harm it does to you."
She just held you tightly as she put her head on your shoulder. No crying but that sorta spoke for itself.
"Do you remember? Who did the experiments?"
She simply shook her head. I could tell even those memories were taken from her.
I looked at her. And she put a hand on my cheek.
"Merci. But I'm not sure if it can be reversed."
I took her hand. "I'm trying. You can't tell me I won't. Cus I'm going to. And I'll try 'till I get there. I don't want you to hurt yourself, just so you can show me you love me."
She walked closer and put her arms around me, pulling me in for a sweet kiss, which I gladly accepted.
"You are truly sweet, chèrie."
"I try for you, amour."
We were just walking around the park, passing by a small lake. We just spent our time holding each other and walking around as if a teenage couple.
I felt like I was on cloud 9. And anytime I looked into her eyes I felt warm in my chest. Anytime I held her close I felt my heart melt and yet feel my heartrate speed up.
I was truly in love.
Timeskop to both of us returning to base
We just kept making out as we made our way to my dorm. It was almost a clumsy dance through the halls.
Her giggles, her excited breathing. I enjoyed every second of it."Amèlie. Be quiet. We don't wanna wake anyone."
"I don't care, chèrie. Kiss me."
We kept leaning into each other. Walking about, always in each others arms. Until we got to my room.
I opened up the door and turned to face her.
"It was a very, very pleasant date, chèrie."
"I would dare say so as well, Amèlie."
I realized I still had my hands on her hips. I attempted to pull them back and let go but she went to stop me.
"Just a little bit longer, chèrie."
We just stood there kissing and whispering in the doorway for far too long. I put my forehead qoftly against hers.
"Merci, Amèlie."
"Avec plaisir, Y/N."
With that, I quickly pecked her lips and she walked off into the hallways.
I walked in and laid on my bed. I felt so much. My heart beating happily, my breatjing relaxed yet a tad excited, the buzzing in my pocket...
Buzzing in my pocket. I pull my phone out and see that an unknown number is calling me. I pick up the call with a soft "Hello?"
"Ah 'Chèrie'. Was hoping you hadn't gô to bed yet, cabron."
Sombra. And her voice was childishly emphasizing 'chèrie'.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up."
"Okay, listen. I figured out who the guy was who made the poison and experimented on Widowmaker. And get this. They are transporting samples tonight. I might be able to quickly sneak out and get you one."
"Sombra. That's-. That's amazing! I'm prepping my lab immediately!"
"Hang on, cabron. I don't work for free."
"What do you need? I'll get it done!"
"Just a favor I can cash in later. Nothing fancy."
"Deal!"
I didn't care what it took. I was going to be the one who cured her.
"Heh. You're really in love cabron. Love can make you blind, Y/N. Never forget that."
I heard the beep of the call ending. What did she mean by that? It didn't matter. I walked out and basically speedwalked up to the lab to get things in order.
I was finally going to do something right.
