CHAPTER SEVEN:
FIGHT

SHE STOOD THERE BESIDE OF Tony, her arms crossed over her chest as she let out a soft sigh. They had caught Steve and Sam, as well as Bucky who they were bringing in. Natasha offered to wait for them and walk them in so that Victoria could get her emotions together. She was upset. She knew that Steve knew what the consequences were, yet he still did it.

"I'm talking to him first." Victoria told her boyfriend, glancing at him. Tony looked at the woman, taking note of her clenched jaw, and deciding against arguing against the idea, giving the simple nod of his head. He got a phone call and he gave the woman a kiss on the top of her head before answering it and walking away. When she saw Natasha, Victoria immediately joined her side whilst Steve and Sam entered the room behind her.

"Consequences?" Tony asked, still on the phone as he walked towards them. "You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it. Anything else? Thank you, sir." He hung up the phone and Steve looked at him.

"Consequences?" The Rogers male asked.

"Secretary Ross wants you both prosecuted. Had to give him something." Tony shrugged his shoulders, walking away.

"I'm not getting that shield back am I?" Steve sighed.

"Technically it's the governments property." Natasha told him. "Wings too." The two women walked away and Steve and Sam followed after them.

"That's cold." Sam told them.

"Warmer than jail." Tony pointed out to him. The two were directed over to where they would be held, but Sam stood out of the room when Victoria requested to speak to Steve. She closed the glass door behind her, no one being able to hear them unless they really wanted them to. Steve looked at her, frowning slightly.

"You're mad."

Victoria scoffed. "Damn right I'm mad."

"Vic, I couldn't let them hurt him." Steve tried.

"And look where you ended up anyways." Victoria snapped. "Steve, what you did was stupid, and reckless. You could have gotten killed, because that was their orders. Shoot on sight, no matter who gets in the way. You are making this worse and worse for yourself. When are you going to stop?"

"When I prove that it wasn't him." Steve answered her truthfully.

"You're joking right?" Victoria asked, her eyes narrowing. "Steve, it doesn't matter if he blew the UN up or not, he is a dangerous assassin. Who, by the way, almost killed you. Or did you forget that part?"

"Aren't you an assassin as well?" Steve shot back. Victoria's eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes, Steven, I am. But I don't go around and kill whoever I want! I understand he had no control, because of HYDRA, but that doesn't excuse the shit that he did!" Victoria snapped at him, feeling her anger rise and rise, along with her voice.

"Everyone makes mistake, Victoria."

"Yes, they do." She nodded her head in agreement. "But nobody accidentally blows up a goddamn building and kills the king of Wakanda!"

"It wasn't him, Victoria. You have to believe me." He begged her.

"I want to Steve, I really really want to. But you have no proof and until you prove me wrong, then I will make sure he's stays locked up in that cage." Victoria turned on her heel, stopping when Steve spoke.

"So, this is who you really are?" Steve asked.

Victoria turned quickly on her heel, her eyes narrowing. "What the hell is that supposed to mean, Rogers?"

"You're not the same person that I met a few years ago."

"Because people change, Steve!" She exclaimed. "People fucking change. And obviously you can't get that through your thick goddamn skull because you still believe that the old Bucky from the forties is still there. News flash, Steve, he's not!"

The door opened and Tony entered, grabbing onto Victoria and pulling her out of the room. The girl let out a huff, running a hand through her hair. "You alright? You looked like you were about to go all assassin on him."

"Because I was." She snapped. "You can talk to him now. I don't want to." She shoved herself away, walking out of the room and standing on the balcony. She closed her eyes, her fists clenching around the metal as a single tear slipped from her eye.
