I was having a bad time, I was too lazy to get up from my bed and follow my routine. Today was the prom night and my exams were also approaching and still I was not mentally prepared for all this. Groaning, I pushed myself out of the bed and went through my morning chores, mom was not at home so I decided to go to the library to relax.

The library was sure a good idea, as I approached the place, I saw that the place was almost empty, I took a copy wuthering heights from one of the shelves and sat in a dark corner of the hall, I wasn't up for a chit-chat.

When I came home, it was already 6:00 and the time for the prom was 7:00. I picked up my bag in which my tux was lying and quickly laid it on the bed and picked up my iron.

I was about to start but just then, the phone rang. Groaning, I picked it up.

"Hello?; Shay Collins here"

"Hi Shay, it's me, Alex"

"Oh, how are you?"

"I'm fine but, I wonder are you free"

"Yeah, actually, I'm almost done with ironing my tux."

"Can you meet me?"

"Now?"

"No, not now, when you are ready, just call me."

"Sure sure."

I hurried through the ironing task and quickly changed my clothes. After one last glance at the mirror, I ruffled my hair a bit and left.

While locking the door, I texted Alex.

Me

Hey Alex!

Alex

Hi, you ready?

Me

Yeah, I'm standing outside my house.

And after a while, Alex appeared out of nowhere, he stood in front of me, with a dark black tux and his hair colored in a shade of yellow.

"What you wanted to talk about?"

"Look, I don't know how to bring this up, I feared it was not a piece of information to be disclosed in front of anyone else So, after the talk, we can pick our dates"

"But, what is this all about?."

"It's about Christy" he whispered in a deep voice.

"Wh--, what about her?"

"I know you don't like all this but, just think of it, why is she even telling you all this in the first place?; I asked you this question earlier also but, you were so drowned in your thoughts."

"I don't know Alex, this is so confusing but, what I think is that she doesn't have any disorder, the way she talks, seems normal and Mr. Phil told me that Robbin has a partner. I think that it is Christy, they both are playing tricks on me, they want something from me and I don't know what it is"

"Wait, what do you mean by a partner?" He asked, I forgot that I haven't told him about this part.

I explained to him all about yesterday's incident.

"Hmm..." He started "well, don't you think that Mr. Phil left the school because he fears that Robin will kill him for what he told you?"

"I think so but, what is Robbin's problem?"

"We should not jump to the conclusions"

I explained to him all about Meldy's letter which I found in mom's room and all the things related to the case of 1985, now he had all the information which I didn't want to disclose earlier.

"I'm glad that you trust me but, I think we should tense on this topic after the good part is over, I mean, the prom."

I waited for Kate to come out but it took more time than usual. After what it felt like months, she showed up.

"Kate, you--" I was about to scold her but when I saw her, I found it hard to stay angry from her.

She gazed dreamily around as she approached me.

"Kate, you look....... awesome!!"

"Ooh thank you," she Said, dramatically bowing.

She looked so cute in that black gown with black heels and silver sequins on the top and not to mention that cute hairstyle which made her look even more mesmerizing.

"Shall we go?" She asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Sure"

After a short pause, she spoke.

"Hey, have you read five feet apart?"

"I don't want to crush your enthusiasm, but since when got into books?"

"I hate being nerdy but, I'm into this novel lately"

"Yeah, this bittersweet romance is surely a great choice, the way the authors put up the message that we should live life to the fullest because you never know what might happen tomorrow is so mesmerizing."

"Exactly"

When we reached the place, we took turns and greeted each other, everyone looked so different, beautiful, and so.... mature?

Anna was wearing a halter dress. not long and just below the knees. The golden glamour dress was shiny and gold, The modest prom dress was beautiful and simple, Jeremy was wearing a Slim Garnet Red Oxford Wool-Blend Stretch Tuxedo, and Mike was wearing a 2 Piece Blue Check Skinny Fit Suit.

"Guys you all look so fabulous!" Kate exclaimed.

"Yeah!"

Anna just giggled while others were busy talking to each other.

"Jeez, Shay, you look so dull beside Kate," Mike said as Kate walked and approached Denise and Alex.

"I wasn't expecting that from you Mike"

"Ok, let us just face facts, you don't look nice"

"Mike, you are not being good here," Anna said.

"Just because I'm telling the truth, doesn't make me evil" but Anna was right, Mike was being way too rude.

"Mike--"

"Shut up Anna, I'm just complimenting him!" He smirked as he shouted which dragged the other's attention.

There was a hurt expression on Anna's face that got unnoticed by Mike.

"This is enough Mike" I spoke, trying my best not to practically kill him.

"Guys, guys, what's happening here?" Jeremy asked in a calm voice but, no one replied to him.

"Now you will tell me what's enough?; Don't you know how to behave when girls are around?"

"You stupid, arrogant git! Just shut up!" I mumbled. He looked calm but, his eyes were filled with a glint of arrogance and betrayal because of how a nice conversation took a turn which made the atmosphere so tense.

"So now a guy who doesn't even know his mother's truth is teaching me how to shut up?"

Truth?!.
