april 20th; amaya's leg bounced as she sat in her seat. they were getting their test results back today. within her first couple weeks at school, amaya quickly realized that she more than struggled with japanese class. in that class they learned about literature and grammar of all sorts. it was basically the equivalent to an american english class. since japanese class including reading and writing japanese, she couldn't manage doing even the most basic of assignments.
her stomach swelled up when the teacher began handing back their tests. "please i need a good grade. please i am begging you."
her teacher passed her and placed her test on her desk but it was faced down.
"fuck."
amaya sighed, feeling the anxiety boil in her body. she gripped the paper and quickly flipped it over. she might as well get the worst part out of the way.
"d+ huh? better than i thought."
it still wasn't the grade she wanted though. rei told her on day one that she needed to get good grades in order to stay on the baseball team. it annoyed and frustrated the hell out of her. she wished she only had to listen in order to speak. life would be much easier for her.
"please remind me why i decided to move to japan."
"hey daichi, what'd you get on the test?" a loud voice questioned.
at first, it startled her. she snatched her paper and hid it from the culprit. her heart was thumping inside her chest. she didn't want anyone to see her bad score. amaya whipped her head to investigate who was so curious about her test.
"of course it's kuramochi with miyuki standing right behind him."
kuramochi laughed, "let me see it! or are you embarrassed?"
"i-what! no that's not-" amaya grew frustrated trying to figure out the right words. it didn't help she was flustered and had a hard time speaking.
miyuki stepped forward, "let me see," he snatched the paper from her arms.
"daichi, you're a literal genius!" miyuki exclaimed, obviously being as sarcastic as ever. amaya buried her head into her hands, trying to hide herself from the whole.
"wait, dude! let me see!" miyuki showed off the paper, pointing to the big, fat, red marked paper. his stupid, cocky, grin grew.
"woah! i didn't think japanese was that hard!" kuramochi teased on the brink of laughing.
amaya removed her face from her hands, instead letting her head hit her desk, hard. "assholes," she muttered underneath her breath. why did she have to sit behind the two most annoying human beings on the planet.
kuramochi stopped and observed amaya, "are you really that upset about it?"
suddenly, it was as if she was revived. she snapped her head towards kuramochi, glaring at him.
