Jin felt empty. Like someone had sucked out his soul from his body. He felt miserable, smiling for the cameras but deeply hurting inside, the fake smile disappearing as quickly as it had come. It had been 2 months since the concert, two months since he had not seen Mira, two months since he actually laughed, two months since he felt happy. He had tried texting and calling her for the first month, but his calls went down the drain. He stopped after a point, knowing that it was useless.
Mira had always been more than just a friend to him. He felt like she understood him in a way that no one else ever could. He felt the need to protect her from all the harm in the world, although she could probably do it herself. He felt happy around her and his heart fluttered at even the slightest thought of her. Jin had forgotten a time before he met her and a life without her became unimaginable and difficult, which is why he was struggling so much now. He wanted her and needed her in a way that he never had before.
He kept in his feelings during the days, not wanting to depress anyone else, but cried in the darkness of his room at night, wanting to be comforted by no one but her. Wanting to be hugged and cuddled and held and consoled by no one but her.
He roamed around like a zombie going on about his daily life trying to act as if nothing happened, but his friends noticed it. They didn't know exactly what happened, but they could see he was in pain. He didn't crack dad jokes anymore, he didn't play with the maknaes anymore, he rarely showed his beautiful smile and rarely laughed his beloved windshield wiper laugh. Every time the 7 men hung out as friends, he stared into nothingness, just nodding and hummed when he was asked something.
The members had tried to talk to their hyung, wanting to cheer him up and make him feel better, but all their efforts were in vain as he drove them away, saying he was fine when everyone knew he clearly wasn't. But they reluctantly let it go, hoping that he would come around and go back to his normal self, though they knew only one person could make that possible.
Yoongi had been going to the kitchen to get himself some juice and Jungkook some banana milk when he passed by Jin's door, closed as it had been most of the time now. The invite for the Daesan Award had come a few days ago but no one had told Jin, knowing that Mira would be there. He paused and stared sadly at the room they once shared before the concert.
The night of the concert, Yoongi sensed something was off and slept in Jungkook and Taehyung's room as it was the biggest. It had become clear that Jin needed space so Yoongi slept in the other room every night since then. He missed him. The whole of Bangtan missed him and his lively presence.
He was about to continue to the kitchen when he heard a sniff from the door. Forgetting about the juice and milk now and forgetting about the times Jin had driven him away when he made an effort to talk to him, he opened the door.
Jin was staring at the book, Mira's book that she had pre-ordered for him. He had not gotten time to read it before the concert, but couldn't get himself to read after the concert. He was wiping away the bead of tear that had escaped from his eyes when the door opened to reveal Yoongi, his eyebrows knitted together. He didn't look sympathetic or pitiful, just concerned.
"Jin Hyung," Yoongi said gently. "Go Yoongi, I'm f-" Jin started but Yoongi cut him off. " No-don't you dare say you're fine when I know you're not...everyone knows you're not. Shut up and tell me what happened the night of the concert."
Jin sighed, a few tears managing to escape from his eyes as he recalled the eventful night to the younger one. He told her how much he liked her, how much that night meant to him, how much she meant to him, how he felt like she filled a void in his heart that was irreplaceable.
"Hyung......" Yoongi looked at him, embraced him, making Jin feel a little better. "Hyung, I don't think you just like her anymore," Yoongi says thoughtfully. "What do you mean Yoongi-ah?" Jin says, feeling more relaxed than he had in the past two months. "I think..you love her hyung, and I know,by the way she looks at you that she does too," He tells the confused man. "I-If she does then why would she leave me?" He askes the rapper who seems to have all the answers.
Except this one, "I-I honestly don't know hyung..but I guess you can find out," He chuckles at Jin's perplexity. "We've been invited to the Daesan Literary Award. You must be knowing that she's been nominated for the best upcoming author?" He told him. "She has?" "Yes, she has, maybe you should read her book, come with us," Yoongi told him. Jin fell in deep thought. "I-I-uh.."
"Jin..Think about it, no one's forcing you...I need to go now..." Yoongi said, getting up from his seat on the chair and making his way out of the room leaving Seokjin with a decision to make.
Jin took in a deep breath and opened the book, feeling like a weight had been lifted from his chest now that he shared how he felt with Yoongi. He flipped to the dedications page when he read what immediately helped him decide whether to go to the award show or not.
This book is dedicated to,
The one who thought me how to love
The one who holds my heart
The one with Almond eyes.
