Mira knew now what it was about the Big Hit Café that made her smile. She knew now that it was not the café but rather the time spent and memories made there with the person she loved. Yes, love. She loved Jin, she had for a long time now but only realised at the award show, when it pained her to leave him and go back to her apartment.
She would tell him how she felt today for sure. However, she didn't know if he loved her as well. He liked her, sure, but was it more than just a physical attraction. Was it a soul connection? She did not keep her hopes very high. Just in case.
She took a deep breath and opened the door to walk towards the man seated in the corner of the café. He had on a black mask and a black cap with a simple T-shirt and jeans. He looked unrecognisable as a K-pop idol. But Mira could identify him in any disguise. The gentle slope of his hand, the way his soft hair fell just fell on his forehead and his almond eyes that were filled with warmth and love were etched in her mind.
"Hi Jinnie!" She said, nervousness taking over her. He had been so intimidatingly close to her on the night of the concert, so close, closer than anyone she had been with before. But she wanted more of it, she wanted to reduce the space between them till it vanished. "You...uh..you wanted to talk to me?" She says, avoiding his eyes. "Yeah..but..uh..not here" was his reply. Mira finally looked at him, a quizzical look on her face, when he grabbed her wrist. The simple skinship short-circuited her mind, making her feel giddy.
She followed as he took her to a park. She froze when she realized which park. It was the same one that they had come to after being chased by the waiter, where he held on to her so tight, she knew he would never let go. "Mira," Jin started. She was too anxious to look at him. He held her chin and raised her head so that she was compelled to look at him, into his eyes.
She swallowed hard as Jin continued. "Mi, I wanted to talk to you today because I wanted to tell you that what I said to you on the night of the concert is wrong. I don't like you," Mira's heart sank. She thought he at least liked her. But he did not. She felt his piercing gaze on her. She was stupid, stupid to think that something could ever happen between someone like Kim Seokjin and her. This was not expected though, not expected at all. But what he said next was even more unexpected.
"I love you, Han Mira. I fell deeply in love with you and I need you in my life. I need you to survive. I need you to help me stay happy, I need you to be me. I don't care about the rest of the world if I have you with me. You're my everything and no one can stop me from being with you." He says as he looks at Mira with a fire in his eyes, assuring Mira that every word that comes out of his mouth is sincere and true. He continues with sad eyes "Except you of course. I know that you may not love me b- "
Mira cuts him off by pressing her lips to his, soft and gentle, like butterfly wings. She intertwined her hands with his as her small hands fit perfectly like a puzzle piece, meant for the other, in his bigger ones. His lips moved against hers passionately, establishing that she was his and he was hers. His kiss gave her wings, the wings to fly, to touch the highest point in the sky.
There was no one to interrupt them at that moment, no gawking eyes and crazy fans, it was only them. No thoughts of plausible risks as they both knew that as long as he was with her and she was with him, everything would be fine. Everything would be perfect.
Mira pulled away reluctantly, to fill her lungs with air, pressing her forehead to his as she looked into his eyes that mirrored the happiness and relief that she felt. "Yah! Pabo! Sometimes you should let me talk." She said, both letting out a chuckle amidst the wild range of emotions running through each of them. "I love you too Jinnie! More than anyone I've ever loved before, and I want you by my side, through sunshine and rain." She confessed and the huge grin on his face made her heart flutter and feel weak at the knees.
They both lay down, staring up at the sky, as they had so many weeks ago, their laced hands now its own living being. The only difference was that this time, both had discovered their rightful places. The string that connected both their hearts could be stretched and twisted and pulled but it could never be cut. The strings that connected their hearts would lead them to each other even in the darkest of times.
