The bus stopped and Greenery was already at the door with her bag clutched by both hands. Everyone was staring at her, eyes burning through her back and she could not help but wonder what if Richard Junior was in there. She had not looked at even a single person in the bus when she got in. Richard Junior knew where she lived, he was her nurse at the mental institute and he knew everything about her, he knew every single thing.
The doors slid open and she was quick to jump down and take off. She sprinted off like a lamb with the predator after her but it was. She had a target behind her back and she did not know when her predator would strike but it would. Her feet were barely touching the ground as she ran not hearing anything, barely seeing anything with her eyes clouded with tears. The sky tore apart as a loud clap of thunder broke through, so intense it felt as if the heavens were collapsing, a bolt of frightening lightning followed having her heart drum yet she could not stop. She reached the cross road leading to her house and she could not help but halt in her steps. It was getting dark with the clouds closing in and the trees kept dancing from the wind. What if he stood behind one of them, waiting for her? He would do whatever he wanted with no one to intervene. Once she stepped in the dirt road she was all by herself.
Fear gripped her as she held the sob in. Cars passed on the road right behind her and no one would come this way, she had no choice. It was either she stood there or walked in yet she knew she could not stand there all night, she had to get to her house and she had to get there when it was still light outside or the house would be dark and scary if not.
Her shaking hands went patting on her back pocket, slipping the phone out. She did not care if her father found out, she needed him, she needed him here.
"Hello, dad." She cried out, relief washing over her but that was short lived as her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach.
"You have reached the answering service of +1 000 000 000, please leave a message after the beep." The service lady spoke and Greenery's heart shuttered into a million pieces, she could not think nor breathe as her feet shook as if they would break. She tried over and over again yet nothing. There was no other option than for her to run for it, she knew she had to get to the house yet the fear had her rooted where she was, where people could see her, where people could hear her screams yet those people would soon be gone with darkness and she would be in more risk. Having no other choice Greenery took off running. The wind was harsh and unforgiving on her skin as she bolted so fast she thought she would fall.
Everything was blurry with her eyes teary mostly with the wind not helping. She ran and ran, her eyes daring to look at the side, nothing but tall trees hiding whatever they were hiding in that forest.
Her house came into view and it was all she needed to push on, every sound had her heart drumming, drumming so hard it would kill her. She got to the gate, her eyes took in the environment all around her, scanning to see if he was not hiding somewhere in the yard. She unlocked the gate, getting in and closing it not even bothering with the lock as if he wanted he could just jump over it. She ran to the door not wanting to waste time on the gate, she unlocked the door, her head scanning around again not wanting him to dash out as she opens the door. Satisfied she opened the door, quickly getting in and locking it. She thought she would have felt safe and better yet it was worse. What if he had snuck in the house and was just waiting. Her hands shook, the house dark yet she could still make out things. Her back was on the door, leaning so hard on it as if it could protect her. Fear gripped her and she felt like she would die, her limbs were frozen, body as if it would shutter. Her eyes shot left as she heard a sound then right as she heard another. Everything was suddenly scary, everything was suddenly a place he could hide. The sob broke through her, her hand over her mouth to muffle the sound but who was she kidding if he was in the house he had heard and he was coming for her. She stood by the door because there she could quickly get out yet it was locked, unlocking it would cost her time for him to grab her. Her mind weren't thinking of all the ways she could get out, thinking of all the windows on each room yet there were little escapes.
Her hand shock so bad as she slowly reached for her phone, slowly bringing it up with her eyes not moving from the dark corners of the house. Tears streamed down as she searched for the number, her eyes dashing to the screen for a split second before rushing back to scan the room. The wind was not making it easy, trees swaying, and their shadows like people moving around. The sound of the ring came through giving her little relief as it rang and soon the voice came through and lord she nearly wept her heart out.
"Green," The voice came, so strong giving her little relief as she felt like she was not so alone, her mind fooled and having her feel safe.
She sniffled.
"Bash, please come to my house, please." She begged with the sob breaking through.
"What is wrong Green?" His frantic voice came hearing the shuffle through the phone wishing as if he was already here.
"Please just come, please hurry, I am so scared."
"Okay, I am on my way, I will be there soon, okay?"
"Okay," Greenery said back, nodding her head, telling herself that it was going to be okay, that it was all going to be okay. She held on to the phone, her tears streaming down.
"Please don't hang up?" She asked, getting the little comfort that if anything happened he would hear her, he would hear her scream.
"I won't, where are you? Get to your room and lock the door. I will be there soon." Sebastian said through the phone with greenery already hearing the screeching tires with her head counting down the seconds as if he would just appear at this point. She nodded her head, swallowing the lump on her throat as she took the first step further in the house. Detective Wess had promised that the local police would arrive the next day yet it seemed like the poor girl would not survive even the night. Her feet carried her to the steps, eyes taking in every inch of the floor ready to bolt at the first sight of trouble.
"Talk to me Green, I swear I will kill those boys, they are fucking crazy and I will murder them with my bare hands."
Greenery wanted so much to tell him that it wasn't the boys that had scared her the other day, she wanted to tell him that it was much worse than that yet she could not, she could not find her voice to tell him as she swallowed. She did not know what to say, taking the steps so fast not even looking but just running until she was in her room where she slammed the door, locking it behind her.
She turned around quickly, her eyes taking in the room only to jump as the room lit up from the lightning with the roar of thunder following. The curtains danced around letting her know that her window was wide open, the branches of the trees nearby the windows moved up and down making frightening shadows on the walls. She stared at the window, it looking so near yet seeming so far. Her legs shook, fear having her scared to even breathe. She clung to the phone, taking comfort in its warmth and the sound of an engine of a car.
She took a deep breath, taking one slow step, watching every corner. The rain was near with the lightning getting vicious, it would soon pour, the wind failing to chase the rain away. She gripped on the window, pulling it down yet her eyes could not help but scan the nearby surroundings, she took in the yard, seeing nothing yet she had not turned on the outside lights so it was dark, too dark.
"I am in my room," Greenery finally spoke up,
"Okay, I am just crossing the town boarder, will be there in ten minutes, hold on." Bash's voice came having her slide down the wall sitting with her legs brought to her chest. The lights were not switched on so if there was anyone outside they would not know where her room was. She sat with her eyes wide open, jumping at any little thing around the room.
"How have you been?" She asked, needing him to keep talking with his voice chasing the fear away and making her feel safe, as if nothing could get to her.
"Okay...umh, my fitness company took off and things look good. How have you been?" He asked, his mind seeming to be all over the place knowing she wanted him to keep talking yet his mind failed him with no idea on what to talk about. Sebastian pressed on the gas, hearing the car roar with the droplets of water suddenly coming down on the car. The call had come in as he had sat through the meeting with his marketing team which consisted of his friend Ben and his girlfriend Gloria. Imagine the shock when he had seen the caller id, his heart had went hirewire and he did not even know how he got to this point yet his feelings were growing. There was a part in him that questioned if it was love or guilt and sympathy having him think he loved her. He barely knew her right, barely spent time with her yet there he was driving like a maniac having left everything behind. Sebastian really could not understand who would do such a thing, it really was not anyone's business and they all should just had to stay away from their business. He sighed, pulling on his hair thinking of how scared she must be.
"Okay," Her voice came through the speakers, his hands gripping on the steering wheel. Hearing the fear lacing her voice leaving it barely even audible. Five more minutes, five more minutes, he thought as he overtook a car that was moving so slow in the fast line or was it that he was the one moving too fast. The bolt of lightning nearly had him jump out of his skin as he gripped hard on the wheel. He was not a fan of lightning yet he would look past his fear today and push on. He took a right, easing off to the road that took him to the town. He could see people running for shelter in the streets, ladies clutching their purses, getting drenched while waiting for the bus, he could see the shop owners close as quick so not to be cornered by the rain. He passed the diner where Greenery worked, seeing it open with a person rushing out and dashing for his car. He drove on until the shops were nearly out of sight where he took the turn as the rain came crushing heavy on his window screen. The heavens were not on his side today as he rushed wanting to get out of the dirt road before it got slippery. He drove on, the wipes seeming to do nothing to clear his windscreen having him barely see anything. His heart drummed as he sat up, his head near the screen trying to see a way forward but nothing. He knew he had to lower his speed before he crushed and he would be of no help to Greenery then. Sebastian thread lightly, thunder the only thing being heard as even the heavy breathing of Greenery through the phone was now inaudible. He shook his head, thinking that he would be a king if he made it out of here. He gripped the wheel, his breath having the windows misty, he wiped it with his hand, wiping just a small part he would need for seeing. The car jumped and bumped, moving on ragged terrains, he could hear it scratch below as it was quite low, not made for such roads.
Fog came hard like a blanket, so thick he could not even see his own lights. It was bad, really bad and the only thing that had him at ease was that the boys who had come to scare Greenery were probably gone now, they could not have stayed out in such a weather.
The gate came into view and he almost laughed, he had seen his car trash and his life leaving him with such a weather on such a bad road. The gate was closed yet not locked. He eased the car, taking a deep breath before opening his door, rushing out to push the gate and running back in. In that second his body was drenched, the water falling over his face where he had to wipe it away with his hand at how intense it was. The house was dark, barely seeing it from the darkness. The car moved on, deciding to leave the gate open not willing to get wet again. He navigated the entry way, wanting to find somewhere he could park that was not visible as f her father came it would be a blood bath. He found a spot behind a tall tree, with the fog, no one would see his car. He turned off the engine.
"I am outside Green," He said through the phone, breathing heavy himself thinking of how he had got through that. His windscreen was as if it would shutter, the rain drops like bullets fearing his screen would crack.
He heard the sharp intake of air, hearing the relief.
"Please come to the side of my window, I will...I will throw you the keys." Greenery shot out. There was no way she was walking out of her room. What if Richard Junior waited on the other side and strangled her to death with Sebastian outside with no way in. She sighed, relief washing over her having new tears to come falling down.
"Okay," Sebastian said back.
Greenery stood up, her arm moving the curtain out of the way as she looked down, barely seeing anything. The fog was too thick, he would not see the keys. Her feet went dashing to her drawers where she grabbed her small flash light and soon tied it with the keys making sure to turn it on. She ran back to the window where she opened it. The wind was fast to blow in, rain pouring at her so hard having to take a deep breath with the wind nearly having her stumble back.
"Are you there?" She asked.
"Yeah." He answered as she took deep breaths and threw the keys seeing the light flash and light him as he quickly grabbed them. Greenery quickly closed the window, stumbling over to the door which she leaned on listening with her ear pressed to it. Nothing could be heard with the only sound of the rain as it drummed down the roofing so hard yet she did not give up, listening so to know when to open the door. Seconds seemed to be hours with her heart drumming as if on steroids. Some creaking was suddenly heard having her jump up in fright, more and more until there was a light knock. She took a deep breath, wanting to ask whom it was as maybe just maybe Richard Junior had hit Sabastian after he had unlocked the door and now was waiting on the other side for her.
"Bash?" Her shaky voice came.
"Yeah,"
The door was opened so quickly only for bash to walk up, his hands quick to wrap around her as she buried herself in his chest, a sob breaking through so happy he was here, so happy he was there for her. She cried and cried as he cooed her down, his hands brushing up and down her arm and she just knew that she was safe now and everything would be okay.
