They hit the cross road half an hour later, the streets were quiet and it was like Sebastian could finally breathe as they eased on to the tar road. His hands were white from gripping the staring wheel so firmly with his face up in the windscreen where he had tried looking for the better way out of the muddy road. He himself could not believe they were out. He had not known what he had been doing and at some point he had known the car would flip yet he had held on the staring, wheeling and wheeling it when he had been freaking the fuck out inside. His heart still hammered, his forehead covered in sweat and at this moment he fought the edge to sigh out loud and laugh. This was crazy yet here they were speeding through the road only to get on the highway that would take them out of town. He did not know where to take her, his house seemed like the better option yet how long would it take the killer to figure out who he was and also check out his house for them. It was obvious that the man had not been there to steal anything but he had went straight to Greenery's room with a gun and he did not seem like the type to leave people still breathing. Sebastian did not know what the hell was happening here and as he stared at Green it was as if she was dying. His hand went out to grab hers and it was shaking. Greenery held on to his hand as if he was life itself. She held it so tight he was afraid she would break it yet holding her gave him peace, it reassured him that she would be alright. He drove down the highway, it being so foggy you would be shocked that there were streets lights at how the fog covered. He could barely see the road, the yellow and white line the only thing guiding him as he drove.
Greenery suddenly moved, wiping her tears.
"Shit, I left my phone, I need to call dad." She said quickly, panicking.
"I put it in the bag." He said, hearing her breath out in relief as her free hand went opening the bag and searching for the phone. She found it, dialling the number. It was quite for a while before going to the voicemail. She tried over and over again but it seeming like the network was at play here. She sighed, new hot tears breaking through thinking of how if her father went to the house now, the man would kill him if he was still there. He picked up the phone calling over and over again but nothing. She took a deep breath dialling another number with the call going through. The phone rang over and over and over again. She knew the detective was probably out like a light yet she had to get to her for they had nowhere to go.
"Hello," Came the sleepy voice.
"Hi detective, this is Greenery Smith, a man broke into my house and tried to kill me." She said through the phone, her chest clenching at the revelation, it all seeming like a bad dream yet it was real.
"What! Are you okay? Did you see his face?" The detective asked with Greenery hearing the rustling of sheets.
"No, he wore a mask but it was not Richard Junior, the man was too bulky and tall for it to be him, maybe a hired gun." Green said with her hands shaking and heart drumming.
"I am so sorry for this, where are you now?"
"On the road out of town."
"Okay, drive to the headquarters and I will be waiting there for you. I will sort this out I promise, get here, what are you on?"
"A car, uhm, I am with Sebastian Black he was with me and the killer saw his face."
"Okay Greenery, come to the headquarters."
"Okay, I can't get hold of my father may you please try him. He should be out of work by now." greenery said through the phone hearing the scramble of things on the other line.
"Okay, I will, we will find him, don't worry."
Greenery cut the line, trying her father one more time to no avail. She sat back, holding onto Sebastian's hand as he drove.
"I am sorry I brought you into this." She said giving his hand a squeeze only for him to also give a squeeze back.
"I am happy to be here with you, we will get through this." He said to her with Greenery not being able to help herself as she leaned on his shoulder feeling his warmth and getting a peace of mind from just being near him. Her heart thundered though, afraid and scared for her father who was nowhere to be found. There was nothing she could do at this point besides pray and hope he would not come home like he usually does. She had to tell Sebastian that they had to go to the city and to the FBI headquarters now, how will she explain why they are going there? How could she tell all she had gone through? She sighed, taking a deep breath.
"That was Detective Wess who is handling my case and she asked for us to go to the city and we will meet her at the FBI headquarters, I am sorry but the guy saw your face and your house will be his next stop." Greenery said feeling very bad at that now he had to waste his gas and drive her and not to mention how his life would be flipped upside down. She cursed herself thinking of how she should not have called him yet she would be dead by now if not. She swallowed as she waited for the question.
"Okay, are you cold?" He simply asked having her not sure what to say. She froze, waiting for the questions that never came.
"Yes," it was all she could say as he let go of her hand and turned on the heat along with the music, turning the volume low so it was just soft. His hand made it back to her grasp where she sat shocked, nervous and dazed at the same time. How could she never obsess over a guy who was just so perfect? They crossed the town boarder continuing with the highway, passing his town as the car speed through. Greenery's mind kept on going back to what would have happened if Sebastian had not been there, she would have slept through it all and would have woke up to the gun on her forehead. A shiver ran down her body as she held on tight to his hand, head on his shoulder. He gave a squeeze back with her sighing in contempt. She could feel sleep claw at her yet how unfair it would be for her to sleep when he was driving with them both having not got much sleep. She blinked it away yet it was hard, his cologne was all she could smell and it had her calm. His clothes were wet and he himself was cold and shivering. His eyes never drifted from the road and she found herself observing him as he drove with one arm. She knew this guy, she knew what made him tick, knew what made him burst out laughing. She had found herself standing in his room for hours, she had slept in his bed too many times, rolling and rolling having skipped school. She had taken his clothes, wearing them as she slept in her own house. She had been obsessed and in a way she was happy they had caught her for she had went over the edge. It seemed so far away yet it had been just a year ago and here she was taking her shot of heroin. Greenery could not help but question herself, was she doing it again? Was she obsessing again? She shifted uncomfortably not sure, with these things you never know. She had not known how it had happened last time but she had blinked and she had been in his room laying on his bed with his t-shirt on. That was the day she hit rock bottom and it had been so scary. Sebastian had walked in, shocked to no end quick to ask her what she was doing there, it had not been the first time they had caught her yet it had been the last as finally they had called the police on her and her father had signed her in a mental institution.
Was she getting back there? Was she doing it again?
