I woke up at 4 a.m, the next day and took a bath. Yea, maybe this is the first time I woke up so early.
After bathing, I dried my hair and came out of my room wearing a light blue saree.
"Good morning, dear" My mother-in-law wished while setting up the things for Pooja.
"Morning " I wished back but none of us smiled. I decided it won't be a good idea to stay by her side so I went to Shakshi and started helping her arranging the flowers. Anant ji was busy with his phone and Disha was sending us dead glares.
Dude, what's her problem?
"Di, why Disha hates me so much?" I whispered to Shakshi.
"Ah, she is like that only. I was also treated the same when I came here. She just wants to be good in her mother's eyes. Ignore her and don't mess up with her" She replied as I nodded.
I looked at Disha for the final time and then the Pooja started and I joined my mother-in-law.
I was kinda drooling but anyways, I managed myself and continued till end. After that I distributed the prasad to everyone and smiled at Nilangana as she stuffed herself with sweets.
This girl will get cavity!
"Shakshi! Radhika! Take Manpriya to her room and prepare her, the guests will be coming " My strict mother-in-law said with her strict tone.
I followed them and went to my room. It was just 5:30, who gets ready so early? And the guests will probably come at 8.
Ugh! Such an irritating family.
Shakshi and Radhika di started doing my makeup as I closed my eyes and started sleeping.
"Manpriya?"
"Huh?" I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the mirror "Wow"
They smiled and started dressing up as I helped them with the makeup."When will the guests arrive?" Radhika di asked.
"Probably at 8" I replied. After an hour we came outside and I took my seat as the family members surrounded me.
"If you need anything, just tell me and don't go anywhere " The eldest aunt said as I nodded.
I'm not a kid!
Anant ji came to me and whispered "You're looking beautiful as usual" as I blushed.
"And you too"
At this point of time, I noticed all eyes were on us as they started giggling.
Uwa! So embarrassing! I swear he did it on purpose!
I glared at him as he tried his best to control his laughter. Oh God, now I can't stop smiling! I smiled at him as Nilangana came rushing to me.
"Priya! Nisha is here!" She smiled as I jumped like a child.
"Aw really? Where's she?" I asked.
"Talking with your mother-in-law " she replied as I took my seat and Anant ji sat beside me.
.
Nisha came and I hugged her "Missed to too much"
"Same here!" She smiled.
"Are you guys done? You are ruining her makeup!" Nilangana averted her eyes as we laughed.
We were gossiping when Disha arrived.
"I didn't expect to see dog's shit here" She flicked her hair and smirked.
"And I didn't expect you to step on the shit" I chuckled as her smirk faded.
"Disha, why don't you go and help the others?" The old aunt said.
"Don't order me around, I'm busy" she said and started scrolling in her phone.
What do she think of herself?
"Priya...don't you think she is..." Nisha whispered.
"Bitch. I know " I whispered back and Disha's grief tightened.
"Manpriya ji" Anant ji hissed.
Ugh! What's his problem now?
"Sowwie" I smiled, apologizingly as he nodded.
"Do you address each other as 'ji'?" Nisha asked.
"They both are too shy to call as honey, babe..." Nilangana teased.
"Enough!" I averted my eyes and looked down.
"Is my honey blushing?"
I looked at Anant ji as everyone clapped like we won a scholarship. I blushed harder as he laughed. However Disha was too annoyed by all this and we moved to the gate where my mother and father-in-law greeting the guests.
"Come here, Manpriya " Mrs Chauhan called as I went to her.
"Wow! Your daughter-in-law is really beautiful " A aunty smiled as I greeted her.
"She is really too decent" another one said.
"You are lucky that she copped up with your family " Another person said.
"She is trying bit you know girls nowadays " Mother-in-law laughed.
"Nice to meet you" I smiled as they came inside.
.
"Nice dress" An aged woman said as I helped her to seat.
"Thank you, grandma" I smiled.
"The Chauhan family is really very luck to get a daughter-in-law like you" she said as I sat beside her.
I smiled. I have nothing to say "Do you want to eat something?"
"No, I just came to see you. I will leave soon" she smiled.
"Why so soon? You can't leave without eating " I pouted as she laughed
"You are really sweet but I'm not invited here" she smiled sadly.
What? Who's she then?
"I'm from another city and I shifted here today only. My brother arranged a house for me, after my son threw me out of his house. I came here because...I was hungry " she smiled sadly "But I'm feeling bad to eat now"
"Oh grandma, don't be sad and it doesn't matter that you're invited or not. Now I'm your daughter, ok? And come with me. You must be very hungry " I took her to the place where everyone was eating and managed a place for her and told the chief to give her food.
She thanked me and I went to my in-laws.
Its almost noon and everyone started eating as me and Anant ji greeted the guests and took photos. The aged woman left after eating and I also took Nilangana and Nisha to look at the house properly.
After today, Nilangana and Nisha will leave and I'll be alone here. It's pretty good living here but that Disha...Ugh!!
Manpriya...just be yourself and you are not alone!!
