I opened my eyes slowly and found myself in my room! Yes! My own room which is only mine! That means... I'm in my house now? I tried to wake up but I couldn't for some reasons and my head is hurting like hell.
I looked here and there and found someone sleeping while sitting on the chair beside my bed. I went to him and shook him a little.
"Manprit?" I called. He slowly opened his eyes and almost bursted like some miracle occurred.
"Di (sis)!! You're awake? Thank god!" He said and almost started crying.
"Aw I don't know why are you becoming so sentimental but don't cry." I hugged him as he made a sad face.
"Why won't I? You're unconscious for 2 days!" He said.
What?! Two freaking days?!" I nearly shouted and now I know the reason behind his reaction when I woke up. I recalled the previous memories and how I was being thrown out by my mother-in-law when it was not my fault.
"Manprit, how am i-"
"You are awake?"
I turned towards the door as mom and dad came inside. Their faces were holding sadness and guilt but mom was different. She was holding anger too and I know things are not going to be simple for me.
"I don't know why I gave birth to a daughter like you!" Here mom started as I expected "Can't you behave like a good daughter-in-law? Why you have to be a trouble for everyone? "
"Ah! Keep these things aside. My daughter just woke up, she needs some peace." Dad said.
"Exactly this is the reason why she is in this situation! Because of you! Your excess love totally destroyed her and can you tell me what will happen to her now?" Mom argued.
"Mom! Dad!" Manprit shouted. "Can't you please stop bothering her?"
"You're still young to talk in between." Mom scolded him.
"I know I'm but you don't have any right to disturb my sister in this situation. So please kindly go out and let me explain everything to her." Manprit said as I looked at everyone with confusion.
"You-"
"Let's go" Dad cut her off and they went out of the room as I turned towards Manprit. He was looking everywhere but me. I have lots of questions in my mind and also...Do Anant know about this?
"Manprit, what happened? And how am I here?" I asked.
"Actually that night we got a call from Shakshi and she said that you became unconscious and was lying outside. It was raining heavily and when we came there, you were lying there only...and you had a high fever. Those heartless people didn't opened the door or bother to take you inside also. They just left you to die. When mom asked her about what happened then your mother-in-law explained about those shit and I realised that our plan failed.
Your mother-in-law also said us to take you with us and they soon want you to give divorce to Anant jiju (brother-in-law) and I guess Anant jiju still doesn't know about this. And that's why you are here." He said as I held my head with my hands.
"God, what will I do now? And...will Anant really give me divorce? He also think that it's my fault?" I couldn't control my tears anymore. I can deny every truth but this? I thought he really loves me or...he is forced to do?
After sometime Manprit told me to take rest and he went out, serving me some babycorn soup.
After eating I wiped my mouth and searched for my phone.
Now matter what I want a clear answer from Anant that he still loves me or wiling to give me divorce. And my next step depends on his answer. I can't let my life ruin this easily. I have to make another plan to prove myself right.
I searched his number and then called him. After few rings he picked up the call and my heart started beating fast. There was complete for a moment and I decided to talk. Breaking the chain of my negative thoughts I opened my mouth.
"Hello Ana-"
"Thank god you finally called me! I was trying to contact you for long and are you okay? Well, take care of yourself and don't worry about my family. I'm coming to your place today" He said in one breathe and I can't explain my feelings right now. I don't know I should smile or cry now.
"Y-You trusted me?" Was all I managed to say.
"Of course I do, silly. I'm not dumb like my mother who can't see the truth. And we had arranged marriage that doesn't mean that I'm only showing love because I should. I really love you, Manpriya." He said and his voice became a little too gentle at the last.
"I-I love you too." I said while sobbing.
"Now don't cry and concentrate on how we will find out the truth. I'll be there at evening and remember, my family shouldn't know that I'm back. Ok?" He asked.
"Okay. Come fast." I said and with that he hanged up.
I kept my phone aside and told Manprit about it. Mom was still annoyed but calmed down a little when she heard that Anant is still with me and dad is acting like he knew it and he is proud of me. I smiled at them but the problem is still there and I still don't know how to find the truth.
All I've to do is wait for Anant to come back and think calmly for days and take our next step extremely carefully.
