Y/N POV

We had emerged triumphant against Adiane and were now on a direct course for the capital city of Teppelin. On this nice day Simon and I decided to get some fresh air after a sparing match.

"Y/N, do you like Yoko?" Simon asked very bluntly

"She's got a nice bod. Who wouldn't be attracted to her" I say brushing off the question and taking a sip from my water

"I mean like do you see her as a life partner for yourself" he asks

"Like a wife" I ask

"Yeah. Like a wife" Simon says

"Hell yeah I do. I'd love to marry her and live our lives together. That'd be amazing" I exclaim

"Then why don't you tell her that" Simon asks

"Cuz I can't. I made her and Kamina a promise. That I'd protect them and their relationship. If I were to marry Yoko, that'd not only spit in the face of the promise I made Kamina, but I couldn't look her in the eye and not see a living reminder of how I failed to protect Kamina" I explain

"That's not like you. I expected a story about how nervous you were or something, but that was very profound" Simon notes

"Kamina was the first one to know that I had a thing for her, and back then yeah I would've been nervous to tell her, but now I feel like I would, if it didn't remind me of my failure" I say, "He gave me a backbone after seeing him fight gunmen after gunmen and I realized that I don't need to fear the little shit like that"

"Huh" Simon says

"Simon!" I hear Nia call out as she walks towards us

"Wow Nia" Simon says

"What's wrong Simon" she asks

"You've really changed your image" Simon says with a blush

"I knew it. I look odd don't I" Nia says

"No you don't. Not one bit" he says

"You really mean it" Nia asks

"Yeah" Simon responds

"That's a big relief" she says

Simon gazes at Nia for a bit, causing me to chuckle

"Simon I have something to tell you" Nia says

"What is it" he responds as I take another sip of water

"I wish to be put to work" Nia says causing me to spit out my water

"What" Simon says red as a tomato

"Everyone else has tasks except me. I wish to be of use to Team Dai Gurren" Nia explains

"You have a very important job. Your Simons voice of reason" I joke

"Shut up" Simon says slugging my arm, "Well your a princess so seeing you walk around is good enough"

"I'm not a princess!" Nia exclaims

"Well uh" Simon says

"SIMON!" I hear Yoko shout as she too walks over

"What's this I hear about you not eating all day" she scorns

"It no big deal. I'll eat when I'm hungry" Simon says

"Unacceptable" Yoko says, "You're the only one who can pilot Lagann. What would we do if you passed out or something when we needed you?"

"Lay off the kid. He can when he wants to" I say taking a sip of my water
