You both took off 6 months and returned to work. You hired a babysitter named Janet to help out.

Spencer walked in one day after work and he saw you trying to teach Aydin to walk. He was 10 months old now and you had been practicing since he was 9 months. His hands held onto your first 3 fingers and you kept encouraging him to walk. He would laugh and bounce up and down but he wouldn't move forward. You sighed and sat back down. Spencer laughed from the door.

"I just wanted to record him taking his first steps. Why can't he just do it." You pouted and he sat next to you on the ground.

"Bye-bye." He opened and closed his hand and smiled. You looked over at Spencer.

"Did he just.."

"I think he did."

He would always make inaudible words and mumble on but never a full word.

You both sat up. He smiled at you and started to wobble towards you.

"Oh my god Spence! Grab the camera!" You hit his shoulder.

"Oh my go- is he actually." He stumbled around looking for the camera until he found it on the couch. He quickly turned it on before Aydin reached you. You opened your mouth and you outstretched your arms.

"Come on!" He laughed and wobbled over to you. He fell into your lap and you hugged him.

"Did you get it?" He looked back at the camera.

"I did. Oh my god I did!" You both started laughing. You kissed Aydins cheek and he held onto your fingers again.

"You did it buddy."

For Aydin's first birthday you invited everyone to the apartment. You decorated the place with streamers and even a big sign. He wouldn't remember it but you and Spencer would. You would record some of it so he could watch it when he was older.

"Hey there!" Derek shouted as he entered. Aydin's speaking evolved from bye-bye and no to mama and dada. He knew that's how to get your attention. He could walk and even started running. He ran up to you every time you opened the door to let someone in and he would grab onto your leg and hide behind it. He was a shy and curious kid. You ruffled his hair and he laughed.

"Remember Jack and Henry?" He nodded. He most likely didn't but he always said yes to his mom. "They'll be here soon." He squealed and jumped up and down. He also learned to jump from the little bouncer you bought. Garcia's heart fluttered at the sight of Aydin. She was so in love with her god child.

Everyone made it and the adults talked in the living room. Alcohol was definitely present.

The boys all ran around and you watched them smiling. The way they treated Aydin, like he was their little brother, warmed your heart. They practically were, they were your family after all. He showed off his toys and they played together in his room. You converted the nursery into a bedroom just last month since he got too big for his crib.

You pulled out the chocolate cake with blue frosting and set it in front of Aydin. It was dinosaur themed. Dinosaurs were his main interest this year. He would point at the dinosaur on the cake. You would all laugh and you set up the one candle. Jack and Henry helped him blow out the candle and you all cheered. The rest of the night was spent drinking as the kids tired each other out.

Around midnight they all decided to leave. You and Spencer thanked them for coming.

"Anything for this little guy." Derek said messing with Aydin's hair. He laughed and hid behind your leg.
