Can a wounded and blistered heart ever heal again?

Amirah_

Amirah snuggled into her cozy blanket, shielding her lazy bones from the fierce cold of October. The rain that fell on her yesterday made her caught cold that she can't even go to work. Khalid had brought her back home yesterday soaked from head to toe after the rain had subsided. And now, she's getting the repercussions for defiantly spending time under the heavy rain.

Her phone rang from under her pillow, she swiped her hand and brought it out before receiving the call.

"Assalamu alaykum Khalid!"

"Wa'alaiku Salam Amirah how are you doing?" Khalid asked.

"Not too great but alhamdulillah."

"Get ready later I'm taking you out for fresh air."

"No Khalid. I just want to be left alone." She countered. Could he ever understand that she prefer solitude than anything else in her life now. She doesn't want people flanking over her and her family understood her and gave her space. Even the persistent kabir and the undaunted maryam had to succumbed to her new mood. It's only layla that she could withstand her whining.

"Amirah I'm taking you out I mean it." Khalid persisted. "You can't just bury yourself in you pain and shut other people out of your life. You have to come out of that shell and I'm the one to bring you out."

Huh? Who's he? Her father?

She sighed. "Khalid I'm having cold now."

"That won't stop me from coming."

Stubborn picka-ninny!

"Must you do that Khalid, I seriously don't want to go anywhere."

"And I seriously want to take you out for air."

Persistent little brat!

"Fine, we'll not stay long out okay?" She could imagine a smile on Khalid's face as she gave in.

"Good! I'm coming by 5 pm."

She flung her phone beside her and gave a sigh that blended with a little hiss.

What a stubborn brat!

Khalid you're too nice to get hurt, and that's the only thing Amirah will give to you.

"You have to finish everything here. I know you've not been eating something solid for a while now." Khalid said, and she opened her eyes wide and scanned the table.

"Everything here?" She pointed at the table, surprised.

Khalid had brought her to a restaurant and ordered different types of meals enough for five people.

Khalid nodded, looking smilingly at her face. "Everything. And if you don't finish it, we're not leaving here."

"That means I have work today." She smiled.

She took her spoon and started eating, glancing around at some instances to watch the people passing beside them, and Khalid did started on his meal too, stealing glances at her when her mind was somewhere.

She remembered the last time Amin brought her out to eat after complaining that she's tired of cooking.

"Whenever you don't feel like cooking we can just come here and eat, their food taste delicious." Amin had said.
