Khalid sat gloom in his office. He'd been calling Amirah's line and she's not picking up his calls. What will he do now? He's already worried about her but he have to give her space to think over it. He'll be so selfish to say that he's praying her father shouldn't lift up the marriage thing. He'd never wanted something so badly as he wanted her, and he's going to take all the risk to get her to accept him. He knows if her father persisted on his claim, then she has no choice but to get married in order to save the company from crumbling completely. That's because without her presence, the company will sure go down as she's the idol of the company. Nasir is trying, but he's not prudent enough to watch things actively as he's new into such business, and other staffs too are not to be trusted.

He looked up as someone pressed the doorknob to his office. It was his colleague Mr. John.

"What's up man," John went to him and threw his palm open, and Khalid clasped in a tight handshake.

"Are you just coming in?" Khalid asked as he reclaimed his hand from Johnson.

"Yeah," John collapsed on the chair opposite to Khalid. "Only to be welcomed with another task." John frowned. "The director wants me and you to go and survey after a criminal syndicate suspected of drugging and cultism."

Khalid frowned too. "Abeg I want to get married soon I don't want to deal with some cultist that could threat my life now,"

John guffawed so loud and threw his head backward. "Don't tell me you're scared of cultists?" He gave Khalid an amusing looked, but Khalid sneered at him.

"I'm not scared of them because I do pray everyday, so there's nothing they can do to harm me. But just dealing with them is hectic. I took such case last last year, believe me, pharmacies got rich from my pocket because of constant buying of panadol and painkillers. It's a headache and body ache case pal."

John sighed and brushed his hand down his face. "I tell you. And one thing, we have to be meticulous in dealing with them because they're very wise."

Khalid scratched his head with a finger, then slouched to his desk. "Are we handling the case, or we're just gonna investigate and bring details?"

"Is the later I guess." John replied. "He only wants to get the details of their whereabout and how they operate before hitting on them."

"That sounds better. Let's get started then,: Khalid got up just as John did the same. At least he'll have something to divert his mind for a while.

Amirah walked to the guest sitting room to meet Nasir. She'd called him and asked him to come so they can discuss about the company since she's not allowed to go out herself. The situation was so messy she couldn't even sleep last night.

She sat on the sofa and said Salam to Nasir, which he answered pleasantly.

"Amirah three days now you haven't come to work hope all is well? Don't tell me is about the scandal?" Nasir asked, obviously displaying his concern.

Amirah sighed recalling the purpose of her being grounded.

"I'm good Nasir, that's why I called you to come so that we can discuss about the company. How's things over there?"

"Well," Nasir shrugged. "We've lost three of the investors on ground already." Nasir announced nonchalantly, and Amirah sighed again.

She knew it will happen. She knows that Nasir cannot handle them as she'd told him to do. Nasir is lacking in business skills and can't handle the company.

"I'm so sorry I don't have the knack to make them stay, only you and Amin can do that. But why didn't you show and conclude the formalities with them?"

Amirah sighed reflectively. She told Nasir the situation she was in, and Nasir felt sorry for her.

"Well, in case you're looking for someone to marry, don't forget I'm single and available." He smiled snarkily, and Amirah glared at him vibrantly.

"You're not serious you know right?" She spat.

"Then let's be sincere now what are you going to do? You definitely know that the company needed your attention right now. Please make decision before all our hard work crumbled."

"Nasir is barely a year since Amin passed away how could I marry again. Besides, I don't think I can ever love anyone again."

"I know how hard it is for you, and I support whatever decision you make, but you not getting married again won't bring Amin back. And if that's the only option your father gave you, and you're sure you wants to do something for Amin, is to keep that company moving for his sake and fulfil all his dreams about that company."

Amirah hearkened tentatively as Nasir rants. Should she do that? She pledged not to get married for Amin's sake then why not just do that for his sake too to help keep his legacy moving. She was so confused and her head was as scattered as a billiard board that she couldn't decide what to do at the moment.

"Grandpa had called me," Nasir ventured. "He said you refused you and layla's inheritance. If you refuse yours you know you can't deny layla her right. That you told him not to sell any of Amin's things and let it be as it is."

"Yeah, I actually said that." Amirah hit her forehead slightly in order to make her think well. She just want every of Amin's things to be as it is, that will make her believe he's still in their hearts even if he's not present with them.

"Of course you know the company isn't part of inheritance because is in layla's name, and he's professed that it's hers. Grandpa had concluded all his property will be given to layla too since you don't want to take anything. He said he doesn't need anything from that too."

"Why must grandpa bother himself about this. Nasir please put that aside I really need a quick way out." She blurted, looking seriously.

"Why not marry Khalid? The guy seems to be head over toe in love with you." Nasir suggested, and Amirah fixed her eyes on The floor as she delved into her thought. It was the same Khalid that caused all that mess even if she doesn't want to acknowledge that. Had it been he let her be alone as she insisted, it wouldn't have happen.

The mean brat!

Why is everyone suggesting Khalid for her? What should she do? Is that the only way she can save the company from going down?

After their brief discussion with Nasir, Amirah couldn't have a wink that night, again. The company needs her and she needs to get married in order to run the company. The company is falling due to Nasir's carelessness and only she can act to put things back in order. What will she do to salvage the company from going down completely?

She's going to make the decision, for Amin's sake, for the company's sake even at the expense of her own happiness.

She took her phone and peered at the screen as if detecting something on the screen.

Yes, the company needed her, and she needed Khalid to stand up for the company. She pressed the call button the moment she searched his name.

And just one ring, he picked.
