Chapter 3

The whole image of my past dissolve and evaporated. I found myself seating on the recliner. Finally, I am back in the present freaking time. My shrink had broken the connection between me and my past. She said it was time for me to stop. She passed me a glass of plain water as I sat up in my recliner and took the glass from her. I sipped as slow as a tortoise walking because my hands were trembling out of a sudden. I did not want to spill any fluid on her precious red carpet.

“This is the aftermath.” She told me, taking the glass from my hand before it slipped off them.”You are going to be alright.”

I leaned my head back on the recliner and let my gaze run wild around the room. To be honest, this was the first time I have been here. Someone recommended her to me as I always complained to them about my nightmares.

“Do you have some soda or something?” I asked.

“Coke?”

“Yeah.”

She handed me the same glass filled with Coke. After years of study, I discovered that sodas come with carbohydrate, and carbohydrate provides energy, which is what I need.

At first, I was shocked that someone like me also existed when I first met her in this small-looking-office. I thought I was the last of the bloodline and the last one to be cursed. My shrink-Alexis- told me that there were others like us around the world. I was the true descendant of Acheron, according to Alexis. She was a part-time history researcher too. That was why she knew me as soon as she saw me. She had seen drawings of me in the files. The reason why there were other cursed being was because one of my ancestors were unfaithful to their mates. That result in an extra bloodline.

The room was not anything I have expected at all. I thought it was a room that can hypnotize anyone who came in, but I was not affected at all. In fact, I was more ebullient than my normal self. The room was -of course- neat like the room was just cleaned the moment I walked into the room. Bright and cheerful sunflower was put near my recliner and some lovely pictures of adorable animals and nature were hanging on the wall and the room was quite small but I did not feel tight-spaced at all.

An aromatic scent hung in the air. It gave a sweet yet cooling to the surrounding air. Her desk was just an arm length away from my recliner. She could easily reach her desk to take something if she needs anything to jot down whatever her patient said.

“Done checking out my room?” She asked bluntly. I turned my attention back to her and nodded sheepishly. I sip the last of my Coke. I feel great.

“It’s kinda the best room I have been into when I attend for the whole talking-about-my-past-and-all the stuff.” I commented and I caught her smiling. She opened her mouth to state something but I knew that too well as I have not met a shrink once.”Meeting people like you are my twenty-third time.”

Her expression was neutral and kept it that way when she said:”I’m not surprise at all. A guy like you-“She shook her head while smirking. “-should have met everyone in the world.”

I laughed. I guess she was right in some ways. I was born thousand years ago, I have met every kind of people, been to every country, seen everything around the world. There was nothing I have never seen before: war, death, birth, anything.

“When will I have to come back again to continue?” I asked, sitting up and wearing my sneakers.

She grabbed something like a calendar from her desk and checked the dates. I take a look around the room again before I leave, afraid I was not going to see this room again. I was always negative-minded after that incident in my past.

My eyes landed on Alexis’s body features and this was the first time I ever took a good look at any other woman after the death of my beloved thousand years ago. She was neither skinny nor fat, just the right size for an average woman. Her body curves were in great shape and her breast was neither too large nor too small. She has long brown hair which she tied into a ponytail which made her more attractive. She could be the perfect woman that every man wants in their life. Unfortunately, for me, I was in the least interested in her. My heart died together with the woman I had ever loved.

“Next Tuesday.” She replied simply. She stood up and walked me to the exit. I was instantly drowned into her depthless chocolate eyes when I looked at her to bid goodbye. I had let my guard down as soon as I see her as I sense that she gave me no threat at all so this was a mistake I had made. I did not know what her curse was so when I let myself drowned in her eyes, I was carried into her nightmare.

I saw myself tied to a wooden stick that was so thin; it was a surprise to me that it did not break. People gathered around me -the one tied to the stick- started to hack my body parts like there were some kind of monster. The moment their weapon touch the body, I was cut into pieces, blood was everywhere. My blood. The body was not harmed at all. It was still there in perfect shape while I was having a hard time standing up. What was happening?

Then, I heard someone screaming my name over and over again. I glanced up to see Alexis coming at me with a hacksaw blade which was so sharp, it could slice anything cleanly. I tried to stand up and face her but I could not seem to find my strength. My bone was melted and I became a pool of mud. Alexis was still charging at me with her blade. And I can only watch her-

I was pulled back into reality. I shook my head twice to get my head back and place two finger on my temple to stop the throbbing pain that was taking place. Alexis put her arms around my shoulder and led me to the recliner. She passed the glass of water back to me and I gulped it down my throat.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that to you. It just came to me.” She apologized, sincerity burning in her tone.

“That’s your curse?” I asked, leaning on the recliner again. What a nightmare! I thought I was not supposed to get affected by the curse other being had. Guess I was careless to let my guard down in the first place.

She nodded. “Better don’t look into my eyes anymore unless you want to get sucked into my nightmares again.”

“You have nightmares.” I stated. “How can a shrink have nightmares?”

“Every people do actually. I had nightmares because of this bloody curse. “She hissed.

“One of my friends also had the same curse as me and he has nightmares too. Much worse than mine. But he is handling it better than me.”

“How many have you met with curse in this world?” I returned the glass to her and started to take my leave but halted when I sense someone with a strong evilness just opposite beyond the room.

Someone who has the curse as well.

“I have met quite a lot actually. Around nine of them. Some were just my patients and some were my friends. “She answered, on her way to open the door for me.

“There must be a lot. My friend told me he have seen 40 of them.”

My stomach was behaving weirdly the more closer we get closer to the door. That person with the curse was terrifying indeed. The door opened and a guy appeared in the doorway.
