Chapter 4

That guy was not what I had imagined in my mind. He was more like a teenager than a man but his eyes were far scarier than a normal person. His brown eyes were filled with anger and hatred like he wanted to murder someone. He had messy blonde hair that touches his shoulder and he had really tanned skin like he was an Indian. I already had my guards up so I was not affected by whatever curse he was trying to emit from his body.

“Jimmy!” Alexis beamed and stretched her hand to pull him into the room. “You are here!”

He shot me a dangerous look that gave a message that says: Who the hell are you? I ignored him and looked at Alexis, raising my left eyebrow.

“Oh, he is the friend I told you about. Jimmy Sachin. He has the same curse as me.” Alexis said quickly; understand the meaning of my eyebrow. To Jimmy, she said:” This is my new patient, Niklaus.”

I extended my left hand in a polite way but he only inclined his head and walked past us, sat down on the recliner like he was the boss of us. I had always loathed this kind of youngster. They did not respect their elders at all. I bid goodbye to Alexis and shut the door gently behind me. I left the building and went straight to my old, broken house. I had lived there for almost ten years after I bought it from a couple.

This neighborhood comprised of only elderly and I was the only young man living there. I may look young from the outside but my mind was way older than any of them here. As I strode in small baby steps to my old house, I passed by one of the elders house where I can see two old loving aged couple spending their precious moment together in their cheerful little front yard. Sometimes, I did felt a pang of jealousy forming in me and I tend to imagine my beloved was by my side doing the same thing as them whenever I saw them.

They glanced up and smiled at me, both in synchronize. I nodded and quickly headed for my house which was situated two houses from theirs. I unlocked my rusted gate and open my front door which was not shut properly. Some might think that my house was broken into if they were observant. My house was so gloomy that even spiders find my place a suitable to live in and made it their home base. The wallpapers were peeled from the surface of the cold concrete, leaving it bare.

There was not much of furniture in my house. Just a couch and a tiny television a dining table with only two chairs in the biggest room in the house. There were only one living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a small kitchen. I threw my key to the couch and closed the door. I took a glimpse at the window and noticed that the sky had turned grayish orange. It was evening, the sun was setting soon. What a long day, I thought to myself while entering the bathroom. I pulled my shirt over my head and gazed at the wounds at my bare chest. I always have the knack of doing this every day, watching the cuts and wounds that could not be healed anymore.

Although looking at them brought me back to the past I was dreading to forget, I could not helped but recall one of the cuts on my chest, my favorite one. People might think I was a freak to like the wound but that cut was really special. I got it from my beloved when I was a hunting trip and that was the first time I met her.

My finger touched lightly on that cut, tracing it till my hips. The longest cut of all. I removed my jeans and threw it into the laundry basket at the corner of the bathroom. I turned on the tap to the shower and stepped into the cold and freezing water. Despite the cold water, I did not shivered at all as I was used to it. There was no heater in my house and I had to live like that for ten straight years.
