*Krista’s Point of View*
I awoke to the twins’ laughter and a sudden lurch of the train.
“Rise and shine sleepyhead,” George smiled, “We’re here.”
I sat up, rubbing my eyes and yawning, “Already?”
They both nodded, standing up as the train reached a complete stop. My stomach growled like an angry leopard, twisted in a knot of severe hunger. The pain was overwhelming for a brief moment, but I dragged myself up and followed the other students onto the Hogsmeade platform.
“Fred!” I shouted over the uproar of voices, “Do you see Kenzie?”
He shook his head and I looked around for my sister. I wonder what happened to her. I followed the twins to the carriages, climbing inside and sitting in between them.
“Wait!”
The three of us looked up to see Kenzie running towards us from the platform. Climbing into the carriage just before it started moving towards the castle.
“Where have you been?!” I demanded.
“I’m sorry, sis,” She started, “I looked, but then kind of gave up. I found an empty compartment and fell asleep in there.”
“Of anything you ever tell me, I actually can believe that.”
She grinned sleepily and stretched out her arms. I’m so happy that we’re back at Hogwarts. I missed it so much and I know Kenzie did too, even if she won’t admit it. I sighed contentedly as the huge, glowing castle grew closer. My heart jumping for joy and a smile glued to my face. We were home once again.
The great hall’s alive with noise and laughter. The first years had just been sorted and everyone was catching up, while stuffing their faces with food. I feel a bit alone during meals, except for my roommates. Kenzie and the others are in Gryffindor and I’m in Hufflepuff. I glanced down along my table and saw a few others that were still wearing Cedric Rules! Buttons from last year. Most likely out of respect. Honestly, I kind of miss Cedric. He was always was really nice and willing to help out. It’s a shame that You-know-who killed him. Tonight seemed pretty cheerful as Dumbledore stood at his golden owl podium.
“Attention students. Welcome back for another year at Hogwarts. I must remind all students that the third floor corridor if strictly off limits as is the dark forest. Now, I want you all to welcome a new guest to our school. She is from the min-“
“A-hem.”
A look of annoyance came over Dumbledore’s face as he turned to the short, pink-vomited woman standing beside him.
“Thank you, professor for those kind words of welcome. Hello there, students. How wonderful it is to have your bright, cheerful faces smiling up at me,” She said, smiling sweetly.
Ugh, I already don’t like her. She seems to be sassy and controlling. That pink outfit she wore is just absolutely hideous. I glanced around the entire room, at each individual face, just to realize that nobody was smiling. Not even a grin.
“Now, I would like you to know that the Ministry of Magic has taken great concern in your schooling, so I must tell you to expect a new set of rules. As long as you follow procedure, everything will be fine. I hope that we can get to be very good friends.”
Dumbledore rolled his eyes, “Thank you, Professor Umbridge.”
This year is going to suck. I just know it. I glared at the small, pink toad who was trying to act all high society at the professors’ table. A small smile permanently fixed on her face. She sat with a sense of authority, that she’s now the dictator of our school and our lives. I scoffed at her as I turned to see the reactions of the other professors. Each one seemed disgusted as well, shaking their heads and trying not to look at her. Professor Snape seemed the most miserable and I don’t blame him. Having to sit next to THAT would make me sick, too. Snape is definitely not my favorite professor, but I feel bad for him now.
After dinner, I trotted to the Hufflepuff common room. Despite sleeping on the train, I was still tired and ready to climb into one of those super cozy beds. My roommates Diana and Gayle hadn’t come up yet, so I traded in my robes for my Minecraft pajamas. I stripped the golden comforter from the mattress and dragged myself in, pulling the blanket back up to my chin. I yawned and removed my glasses, placing on my nightstand and turned off the oil lamp. My imagination began to turn to Neville. I like how he’s shy like me. It helps me fight against my own. I sighed as I snuggled my face into my pillow. I’m going to make the most of this year and I just need to survive this next week…
