*Krista’s Point of View*
I don’t know what to do. It’s already been two days since the –ahem- incident. Kenzie still hasn’t said anything, but whenever Neville and I run into her and Malfoy, she just narrows her eyes in suspicion. I know my sister isn’t completely oblivious to things, but either she is this time or she’s in denial about the whole thing. Which honestly wouldn’t surprise me at all.
I set down the book I was reading for class and sighed. The common room still dimly lit as evening approached. I sank so deep into thought, I didn’t even notice Justin sit beside me at the study table.
“Everything okay, Krista?”
I exhaled theatrically, “Yeah. It’s great.”
He combed through his hair with his fingers, “You don’t seem too sure about that.”
I stretched out, cracking my back, “Well, not completely.”
Hope heightened his voice, “Why’s that? Something going on with the boyfriend?”
“Well, part of it involves him,” I sighed.
Justin scooted his chair closer to me, crossing his arms on the desk and leaning forward, “Would you like to talk about it?”
“Uh...,” I wavered, “I don’t think you would really want to know.”
“Try me.”
I bit the inside of my cheek in consideration, “If you say so. A couple days ago, after D.A. practice, Neville and I sort of went off for some alone time...” I trailed off.
Justin leaned in even more, “And?”
I don’t want to continue. I don’t want to torture the poor kid with all the details, “Well... Let’s just say things happened and now I have the feeling my sister knows. Her boyfriend knows, but it’s her I’m concerned about”
“What happened? Did you guys fight or something?”
“Not even close. Something else.”
I’m starting to think Justin didn’t get the gest of “things happened.” He slouched back in his chair in disappointment.
“Then what did happen?”
“Well, you know how my sister can be overprotective?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
I shrugged, “Then put the pieces together. Something happened, she knows...”
Justin’s face hardened, “If he hurt you, I will join her on that.”
I gave him a facepalm, “Never mind.”
I gathered my belongings inside my bag and headed to my dorm to put it away.
Justin called after me, “Where are you going?”
I ignored him, walking towards the girls’ dormitories. I opened the door to my dorm and threw my bag on my bed. I looked at my nightstand and grabbed a small envelope before heading back to the common room. Justin still sitting in the same place I had left him. I walked past, leaving the common room without a word.
“Krista?”
I peered up to see Kenzie leaning against the wall. Oh, no. Here it comes.
“Yes?”
The look on her face made it pretty clear what this was going to be about. She seemed concerned, creeped out, but humored all at the same time.
She thought for a moment, “So... About the other day... What happened?”
I felt my cheeks start to burn and I gave her a nervous smile, “I think you already know the answer to that.”
She shook her head, “I need to hear you say it. I know we would always joke about it, but I’d never believe you would actually do... things. You seriously did it?”
Surprisingly, this is more embarrassing to her than for me. I have no shame.
I laughed, “Yes, we did.”
Kenzie held her head between her hands in shock, but she started laughing, “Oh, my gosh. I can’t believe you really did.”
I shrugged, “I know, it’s shocking. I’m sure you know where I’m coming from though.”
She stopped laughing, giving me a confused look, “Uhhh...”
Yes, I caught her!
I gasped, “You did, too!”
She shook her head, “No. No, I haven’t.”
I paused in the middle of my victory dance, “Wait, what? You and Malfoy haven’t...?”
Kenzie just kept shaking her head, “No.”
My arms dropped to my sides, the envelope falling to the floor, “I would think you would have done it first.”
“Well, in a way perhaps. Don’t forget I’m more innocent, remember?” She paused then pointed to the envelope, “What’s that?”
I picked it up and opened it, pulling out a picture of me and Neville, “A letter to mom and dad. I told them about me and Neville.”
“How do they feel about you dating the neighbor boy?”
I laughed, “Really excited. I guess it’s a good thing his grandmother lives a block away from us. Speaking of, are you going to tell them about Malfoy?”
“Would you tell them about your sexy times?”
I burrowed my eyebrows in confusion, “No.”
“Then no.”
I rolled my eyes, “You’re going to have to tell them at some point.”
Her eyes widened, “Krista, you know I can’t do that. That’s suicidal.”
“You have to be honest with them, Kenzie.”
She frowned, “You know what will happen if I told them. Dad will hunt Draco down like an animal.”
“Like he wouldn’t anyway?”
“Touché, but I don’t want to risk it. His parents don’t know about me either. Not after the last time...” She trailed off.
I sighed, “Fine, do what you will. You know they’ll find out eventually.”
“Let them find out of their own accord,” she waved off, “I’m not going to fight with them now.”
“Have fun with that.”
Kenzie went silent for a few seconds before snickering, “So...”
I crossed my arms, “What are you thinking?”
“Nothing, just...” she kept giggling, “Is he good?”
I blushed, “Shut up.”
She laughed, hooking her arm with mine as we headed down to dinner. I can’t believe I’m talking to my older sister about this. Nobody else knows about this. At least not yet.
“He gets better,” I joked.
Her expression suddenly became serious, “Um. How many times have you done this?”
I held up my index and middle fingers with a confident grin. Her mouth just dropped.
“When was the first time?” she asked.
“Halloween,” I smiled.
“Good Lord, Krista. Both times weren’t even two weeks apart!”
I kept skipping down the hallway ahead of her, calling out behind me, “And I have no regrets!”
