Percy POV:

I woke up with a start to Annabeth screaming I bolted up right. She was screaming my name and other things

"Percy! Percy! NO! NO! WHY HIM IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME NOT HIM!!" She was crying and her arms were flailing around hitting me several times. I grabbed her arms from behind her and held them close to her chest they were crossed in front of her I pulled her into my lap with her back pressed against my chest mum and Paul had come to my room to see what was wrong they were standing at the doorway watching but I didn't care I hated seeing her in pain or upset I whispered to her

"It's ok, we're ok, we're out of there we never ever have to go back, we're together we always will be, it's ok it's just a dream, it's just a dream you're ok please wake up we're ok" I said all this while I gently rocked her back a forth in my lap. Mum and Paul left once she'd stopped screaming but she was still talking and mumbling

"No—Percy—should've—b-been—me you shouldn't—have—f-fallen—with—me—you'd—still—be—with—me—no—no—no"

She was sobbing hysterically I didn't fully understand what she was saying as I was thinking about it her eyes snapped open she looked at me and cried even more, threw her arms around my neck, her legs around my waist and she cried into my shoulder, after who knows how long she broke away and looked at me she rested her forehead on mine and told me about her dream

"It started off with me falling I was a-alone this time"

"Where was I?"

"I don't know you weren't with me I don't know why. It changed to when we were attacked by the Arai, I'd lost my sight I could hear you calling to me but I couldn't see you, then my sight returned and y-you w-were d-d-dead I screamed and screamed for you to come back to me b-but you w-were gone" she broke down into tears again so I just held her till she was finished she cried for ages eventually we both drifted off to sleep. It felt like I had just fallen asleep when my phone alarm went off I woke up and turned it off before it could wake Annabeth up that's my job I rolled over because Annabeth was on the other side of the bed I leant over her and gently kissed her temple then her cheek and lastly her nose as I kissed her nose she opened her eyes

"Morning seaweed brain I could get used to waking up like that"

"Maybe this'll help?"

I reached over, opened my bedside draw and took out the special little velvet box when she saw it her eyes widened and she gasped

"Annabeth, my beautiful Wise Girl I promise that I'll never leave you. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, we fell through the worst place on earth together and I would do it again if it meant I would be with you, I love you, I'll love you forever and always I promise on the River Styx that I'll never stop loving you and I'll never leave you, Annabeth will you accept this promise ring to represent the promises I've made and the promises I will make, and don't worry I already made sure this was ok with Athena and your dad I didn't really feel like getting turned to ashes"

Annabeth POV:

After I fell asleep I slept soundly but it felt like I had just fallen asleep when I felt gentle lips on my temple, cheek and then my nose, I opened my eyes just as Percy pulled away from my nose

"Morning seaweed brain I could get used to waking up like that" I said thinking about the sketches I saw last night before we went to sleep

"Maybe this'll help?"
