his worst pain - kim geonhak

ever since the beginning of middle school, geonhak instantly had fallen for you. he didn't know what if was about you, but he was here for it. he had always left you little notes in your locker, but you never knew who it was from until the beginning of high school, where he finally revealed himself and asked you out, to which you said yes. since then, the two of you have had a strong relationship, and you were glad he made all the cheesy moves he did back in middle school.

you had been there for him when he was going through his company crisis, the one that had kept him going. geonhak was already hard on himself and it was a struggle to get him to open up sometimes, but you were already there for him and he was so thankful for you.

he finally settled at rbw awhile ago after listening to his best friend (who has no idea you two are dating and just thinks you're close friends for some reason), youngjo. you always took care of him after practice, feeding him, making sure he rests enough, helping him when he gets a minor injury and giving him feedback on his rapping. you were really somebody who had truly helped him in the past years, and you meant everything to him. which is why he was hesitant to accept the fact that he was told he was going to debut soon.

of course his company knew about the two of you, in fact, they really appreciated how you took care of him and kept him motivated, which is why geonhak became angry and confused when they asked him to break up with you. he tried arguing with his company and attempted to make a compromise, but in the end it was the company still forcing him to end his relationship with you.

he returned to your apartment that night (which he kinda sorta lived at, he was supposed to live at the dorm but at the end of the day he preferred to stay with you) incredibly bummed out, and no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't pry any information out of him.

"kim geonhak"

"what"

"what is your problem today? you're never this secretive?" you bugged him again. you knew he was annoyed, and most people would stop since he's tall and intimidating with a low voice, but you know he wouldn't hurt a fly.

"you really wanna know? you really wanna know what happened today, huh? well i was just told that i have to end our relationship before my debut. i chased you for 3 years and i finally got you to be mine for the past 4 years and now their asking me to end it. i've been in love with you for 7 years and i'm being asked to throw all of that away, i'm being forced to leave you behind and i can't bring myself to do that, y/n! do you want me to leave you behind?!" he suddenly lashed out. his sudden outburst shocked and even scared you a little bit, but it was understandable.

"if it's for your career... then yes" you answered after a few seconds.

"..w-what?" he asked, obviously taken aback.

"geonhak, look," you began, grabbing his hands and intertwining your fingers.

"i've been right by your side during all of your trainee years and i experienced all your hardships with you. maybe it didn't directly affect me, but i felt your pain. and here you are, you're so close to debut, so close to what you've been chasing for years. and geonhak... if i'm the last obstacle in your way, so be it. i love you so much and i want you to succeed. and... if ending our relationship helps you debut and succeed, then i guess that's what we'll have to do"

"y/n... no.. you can't do this to me. you're not breaking up with me. you can't..." he grabbed your shoulders, looking into your eyes desperately. you made eye contact, watching the tears threatening to fall from his eyes. he hasn't cried in awhile, and you didn't want his streak to end.

"please don't cry, geonhak. i'm sorry... i love you. i love you so much.." you placed your hands on his cheeks. you pulled him down for one more soft and sweet kiss. this one was filled with sadness, but you could feel him pouring every ounce of of love he has for you in his body into that last kiss.

pulling away, you rested your forehead on his.

"i'll miss you. i'll miss you a lot, really" he sniffled and you could see him holding back tears.

"i'll miss you too. i love you, geonhak"

"i love you too, y/n"

you watched as he quietly packed the few things he always kept at your place. he hesitated, standing in the door frame between your apartment and the outside world.

"i'll come back for you, y/n" he turned to face you. you smiled softly.

"i'm sure you will"

he tried to smile back, but he just couldn't. he felt as if he had been shattered, as if somebody had ripped his heart out of his chest and stomped all over it, or if somebody had beaten him to a pulp. in that moment geonhak confirmed, that was the worst pain he had ever felt.
