Stephanie took out her phone once more and switched on the flashlight. She stared in awe at the various decorations that have turned brown and have lost all its colour with age.

Posters of robotic mascots were plastered to the wall. She didn't recognise any of them though so she wasn't too excited. All she knew about Freddy's was that they were opening an entire mall dedicated to this establishment in two days. It's supposed to be a huge event that's going to be broadcasted all over the world...or something like that.

Stephanie walked further down a long stretching passage that led to a metal door. It was already open.

"I swear," she mumbled while pushing it open slightly to look inside. "If he's not here, I'm going to pull him by the ear and drag back to his cell." She peered inside the dark room and a sudden eery feeling came to her. Without even realising it she had her gun in hand, almost instinctively.

She stepped inside and looked around. It was empty...yet. She could feel the cold presence of multiple other beings. She pulled back the safety lock on her gun, readying herself to shoot.

Suddenly, a large honk echoed through the building and she jumped, but didn't pull the trigger. Then she heard it again..
...and again
....and again.

She recognised the sound and pushed the safety lock back on her gun, putting it back into its holster. She sighed and marched out of the building back into the bright summer sun.

Sitting sideways at the driver's seat of Stephanie's car with an all too jolly grin on his face was William. He was still hooting and looked like he was having such a good time. Stephanie angrily stomped her way to him, her blood boiling.

"Would you stop that?" she snapped and he looked at her.

"Hello detective," he said and honked one final time for good measure. "Glad you could finally join."

"Why did you wander off?"

William slid out of the seat to stand in front of Stephanie. He towered over her, casting a long shadow. "I don't know if you've realised it yet, but that place...isn't the happiest place on earth, as they say."

"That doesn't explain why you just suddenly left."

"Were you worried?"

"No. I could've gotten fired if I was responsible for letting you loose."

"Oh."

Before they could continue their argument an ambulance pulled up as well as two police cars following closely behind. Stephanie gave William one last glare and went to explain the situation to her colleagues.

"And who is that, detective?"

Stephanie raised an eyebrow at the officer who spoke to her and turned around. She felt her face heat up out of embarrassment. William was standing in the middle of two big policeman and mimicking their stance, with his hands behind his back and puffing his chest out to make him look more burly. He was grinning widely and childishly. Stephanie wanted to disown him there and then.

"He's... no one," she replied nervously.

"No one?" the officer asked, confused.

Stephanie shut her eyes, turned to the officer and opened them again. "I mean, an intern. He's an intern. Just started."

"Oh, well in that case, congratulations on the new partner, Detective Blythe."

"Yeah, thanks."

Stephanie said her goodbyes as everyone left and walked over to William with a strained smile.
