Chapter 2 (Encounter with Xiao Xian and Xu ma)

The past two months have been hard but Yibo learnt to avoid his father as much as possible, sometimes, he even sleeps in the dance studio with the permission from Mr Cheng who is an old man in the sixties who later came to understand Yibo's story and had pity on him. So, Yibo sleep in the studio floor with some blanket and his jersey as pillow so that he doesn't have much beating. He only goes home in the day time when he knew that his father will be busy in the gambling den. This seems to work well for Yibo.

The dance studio that old Mr Cheng owns has recently recruit little kids to do some gymnastic for some little children ranging from age 8 years old to 10 or even 11 years old. Yibo spent a lot of his time in the studio helping around. Every morning when he wakes up,  Yibo do extra cleaning for Mr Cheng and he also decided to make breakfast and cook lunch for Mr Cheng before he goes to the University for the morning classes. This is because he feels so thankful to Mr Cheng for allowing him to sleep in the studio at night so that he will not get any beating from his drunkard dad. Mr Cheng trusts Yibo completely even allows Yibo to use his desk top computer to do his studies at night in the office. Now, Yibo has light in the office to do his studies unlike in his home where he sometimes could not afford to pay the electric bills and so he has to use candles to do his homework which cause him a lot of pain in his eyes because of the flittering of the candles that does not give him a constant brightness. However, Yibo is always a good boy and he never forgets his father. He will go home at lunch time, to change his clothes, bath and cook food for his father and then he head to the studio to work and sleep.

So, as usual, the studio has many kids now as this is gymnastic class. The children are all dressed in shorts and T-shirt and they are all very lively and active. However, Yibo always noticed a very quiet one. This little boy with such handsome features but he doesn't join in or talk to others. I think he comes with his grandmother because there is a chubby lady that always comes with him and the chubby lady will sit at the corner and waits for him. He will always eyed and look out for the chubby lady for assurance. I noticed how much the chubby lady or grandma loves him, because she will often nods her head to gives him encouragement. This little boy draws my heart. I see a little of myself in him, shy and unsure of the world but he is much more fortunate than me because he has his grandma with him. However, at that age, my mother was often with me till she passed away tragically. Mr old Cheng used to be a gymnastic instructor although he is quite old now but teaching children is not difficult for him. However, he often asks me to help because he knew that I love dancing. He saw me often peeping and "stealing" the learning techniques when the class is on. Yes, I did that. I learn secretly and practise when no one is around. Mr Cheng knows me and he just smile and allows me to do that. I have been assigned especially to help this very shy and timid boy and his name is Xiao Xian. I also found out that the chubby lady name is Xu Ma and she is his nanny.

ONE MONTH AGO

"Mmaauuaahhh" Xiao Xian crying when the chubby lady holds his small hands

"Ah Xian, this class is good for you, eh. helps you to grow stronger, ok" Xu Ma told the crying boy

"I don't want to, I want to go home" Ah Xian told Xu Ma

"Why?" Xu Ma asks

"I have no friends here" Ah Xian still crying.

No matter how much Xu Ma pet talk him, it doesn't seems to work and so Mr Cheng assigned me to help this boy

"Bo, go and help the boy and be his friend" Mr Cheng told me while I was helping the other kids

So, I walk to the boy Ah Xian and I slowly squatted down to his height and I nod my head at Xu Ma
