Lead lioness

After many many hours we have finally arrived in our new home, it's not a large as our last one, but for now it'll do.

My pride sisters and I used to live in the remote areas of Africa but something tragic happened nearly 6 months ago, Now we can't stay their any longer.

My name is Akina I'm the leader of my pride, I did have a mate but he was killed just over a year ago, my born sisters are Sara and Athene, I'm the first born so I was chosen by our father to lead the pride, Our mother died having us so we never got a chance to know her.

Another thing you need to know about us, we age differently, if we stay as our lions for a long period of time we age very slowly but if we choose to stay as our human for more the 6 months we age like a human, my sisters and I are now the oldest being 39 I was born first so I'm older by one minute so I was chosen to lead the pride, Hasani is 37 and Tau is 35, Kula and Diku are 30, Nakia, Nadia and Nyla are 27 while little Imani is 22, looking at us we look in our late teens to mid twenties, my late partner Mfausi was 40.

We all arrive at our new home, the house is basically a mansion, it has 13 bedrooms with a walk in wardrobe in every room and a bathroom attached, me and my sister have the 3 largest rooms while our males have the rooms next to ours, they protect while we hunt.

Our pride isn't a large one but we are a proud one, we will always protect each other.

I've enrolled a few of us into the local school so we can learn about everything here, the culture is very different and so are the people.

If we're not sure about someone we don't speak English, instead we speak to each other in the language of Xhosa, it's one of the official languages of South Africa but cause we speak quickly no one can decipher what we're saying.

"Do we really have to go to school, I mean what is there to learn?" One of my younger pride members kula ask me, her and her twin sister diku are both mischievous but also very cunning and clever.

"Because we could all learn something about this place, you never know kula this place may surprise you" she laughs before heading off with Tau, our youngest male and Hasani's younger brother, Hasani is older by about 2 years but both brothers have proven to us that they are more then capable of taking care of themselves.

My bravest warriors are Nyla, Imani, Nadia and Nakia, Imani are very smart and stealthy she can sneak up on anything, Nyla and Nadia are brave and fearless, they face the danger head on, they are in control of distracting our prey during hunts, and Nakia is our planner, she plans our hunts and what position each lioness has other then me of course, I always make first contact with our prey then the others move in.

Tau and kula have been spending a lot of time together, I think they might be mates but I'm not entirely sure.

A few hours later and it's dark, Hasani and kula returned a few hours ago and they said that they caught two scents of unfamiliar creatures just outside the territory.

We all head to our rooms to get some sleep.

As far as I know only Sara, Athene and I will have the same class, the twins are in the year below us and Hasani and Tau stay at home with the hunters, they are unpredictable around people so it's best that they stay home, Hasani and Tau have agreed to teach them what they can, Hasani is 20 while Tau is 18 but they are still older then our hunters, so they have to listen.

Soon after I lay my head on my pillow I feel my eyes close.

My alarm goes off at 6.00, I open my door to see diku and kula staring at me with broad smiles.
