I came back the next night and put on a different outfit this time. It was my leather outfit. I was still wearing my bloodied T-shirt and muddy boots. I went back to Trina to see if I could get some new or cleaner clothes.
"Hey, Trina, could I get these same clothes it clean?" "Sure, just one moment. She got everything from new socks to a new shirt." "Thanks Trina, and do you have another leather jacket?" She looked through the racks if clothes. "Sorry, we don't have the same one, but I have this one." It had gold zippers this time. The main zipper was slanted to separate stitching patterns. It was awesome. "The zippers are silver but painted gold." She said with a smile because she new I loved it.
"Thank you Trina!" I went and immediately changed into my new stuff. "Put your dirty stuff here. When there is enough to do, the tailors will go and fix everything." Trina said gesturing to what looked like a garbage shoot. "Ok." I threw my clothes down the shoot and walked down a narrow hallway.
I walked into the weapon room for target practice, I was surprised to see Joey. He was trying to throw a knife but was holding it wrong. Classic. "Stop!" I yelled as I grabbed the knife from him. "No, you'll cut yourself holding it like that." I repositioned it in his hand like Raymond taught Talia how to. Then I stepped back and watched him throw. It hit the target but was far from the center.
I gave him a few other tips on how to aim and to keep his wrist locked. It got him close to the center, close. I left him practicing and grabbed my old now off the wall and my old quiver. The others vamps found it when the leader threw it off the balcony. They had put my name in the bow handle and the strap of my quiver.
I now started testing my skills. I turned around, then as fast as I could, turned and shot. I hit the center of the center every time. I tried some other tests but always hit the center. Then Joey said, "Hey! I hit the center!" "Awesome. I want to try something." I said smirking. I walked over to his target. Loaded my arrow and aimed for the knife. It was silver, so I doubted my arrow could split it.
I relaxed, then shot my arrow straight at the knife. The arrow didn't split it, but it stuck the handle. "Nice shot." He said. "Thanks. I was trying to split it." That's when we heard this loud bang from the ballroom. "Didn't they just fix that wall?" "Yup. They will be furious." He said as I grabbed a few more arrows and we ran down the narrow hallway to find a familiar sight.
The same wall was broken. I could tell which were the carpenters because they were furious. There was the hybrid prince, not yet leader. His name was Gabriel. He spoke, attempting to sound intimidating, "Now, which one of you killed my father?"
He looked around slowly, then he saw me. "It was YOU! He yelled as he started toward me. "Joey just go with it. Stand to side an did I'm in trouble, hit him, but don't kill him." I whispered into his ear. We scrambled to the corner. Gabriel pulled out a knife and was running toward me. I quickly turned to face him and loaded my arrow aimed it at his face. He stopped. "You wouldn't shoot me!"
"Why not? I shot your father many times." As I spoke I never moved my eyes from my target. His face. "Well, I want his killer dead!" "Than why are you looking at me?" "What do you mean?" "I didn't kill him." "But you were the only one there!" "Could it have been one of your own?" I questioned him. That ticked him off. "You question the loyalty of us toward our leader? You .." I cut him off by cueing Joey to throw. We had made a plan while running down the hallway to the ballroom.
I tapped my right ring finger on the string of my bow twice. I usually didn't put my ring finger on the string, so that was a good cue that only people who watched my shoot know. He threw the knife, it grazed Gabriel's face and hit the wall behind us.
He looked at the corner but he saw nothing because of the shadow casted on the walls. He looked back at me, then I spoke, "Go back, and you will not be punished. Hurt one of us, I will personally bring you back to your mother." I said in a stern, low voice. He tested me. He used his knife and cut my left arm. I looked at it and then looked at him. I lowered my bow and shot his leg. He howled in pain just like his father. He fell to the ground grabbing his leg. I put my bow over on my back and said, "You had to test me. You just had to."
I picked him up by his shirt. All that training was making me look awesome. Vamps are naturally stronger in vamp form but during training I worked out a little. Just a little.
"Now you are coming with me." I said with a smile showing my fangs. I started walking toward the hole in the wall. "Hey, can I come?" Joey asked. "Sure." He followed me out of the base across the plains yet again.
