We woke up with leaves and dirt everywhere. We got up and walked. When we were fully awake, we jogged. When we got to the plains, I was happy. I ran in the wind. I ran for a good 5 minutes. Then I tripped over something in the grass. I fell flat on my face. "Ow." I said as I looked to see what I had tripped over, it was by bow. A few yards away was an arrow and my quiver. I smiled.
"Hey, Ruth and Zoey, I found my bow!" I said with enthusiasm. "Great, now if we find any guards you can shoot them! Ruth said with a greedy look in her eyes. "I don't think any guards will come this far. I wonder if the leader even knows we are gone?"
We walked for another 3 hours or so until I saw the large castle in the distance. "Yes! Up ahead! We are home!" I said with a skip in my step of excitement. "I have one question, how long have you been there?" I asked turning and walking backwards to face them. "Uh, we have been there for about 3 years. Also, we are sisters if you couldn't tell." 3 years! That's a long time to be stuck in a closet, and now that I face them, I could see the family resemblance.
They had the same nose and the same height in their cheek bones. They had the same frame but they walked a little differently.
I turned back around to find Joey sitting on the edge of the fenced in entry. He sat crossed legged with a sad expression on his face. I had my bow and quiver on my back, and he would never hear me from here, so I grabbed my bow.
I loaded an arrow and aimed it right above his head. "Laura! Are you going to shoot him?" She asked, also looking at me like I had 2 heads. I calmed myself down, slowing my heartbeat and breathing. When I was exhaling, I shot the arrow and it hit my intended target. The fence pole right in front of just face. He jerked up and I waved. He saw me and jumped up, waving back. He reached around the fence and grabbed my arrow out of the fence and ran down the stairs down to the plains were we walked.
"Hey Laura! Are you ok?" He asked. I think I had a bruise on my back, but otherwise I was fine. "Yeah, I'm fine. These girls were with me. This is Ruth and Zoey." They said hi and he greeted them back.
We walked back up the stairs, into the entry. Joey held the door open for us. "Thank you Joey." I said as I walked by. When we arrived back, it was as if nothing had changed. Ruth and Zoey were excepted back into the clan fast. As I was in the weapon room putting my bow back, I heard footsteps from the hallway. I stopped and gently put my quiver down. My bow was already in its place.
I listened, and then Leroy walked in. "Hey, Laura, are you o-ok?" He said in a shaky voice. "Leroy, what's wrong?" I asked him turning to face him. "Did you meet a girls names Evelyn there?" "Uh, yeah, she didn't want to come with us." "Um, she's m-my cousin." He said again in a shaky voice. "I'm sorry. I would have brought her back if I had known I'm sorry." I walked over toward him so I was about a foot away from him. I could see that it hurt him to talk about Evelyn. "Are you ok?" I asked him, looking into his eyes.
"She was the only other one I knew in the clan. She protected me when war broke out with the trolls." He lowered his head. I knew he was sad. I stepped forward and hugged him. He hugged me back. I felt sorry for him. She seemed strong and full of hope then. But know she didn't even dream of leaving here captor. It didn't seem right.
