EXPLAINING THE SHOCK

I am sitting beside Steve, while Nat and Sam were in front of us, with big handcuffs on us.

"It was him. He looked right at me like he didn't even know me." Steve began.

"How's that even possible? It was like seventy years ago." Sam said.

"Zola. Bucky's whole unit was captured in '43, Zola experimented on him. Whatever he did helped Bucky survive the fall. They must have found him and..." Steve added.

"None of that's your fault, Steve." Nat said.

"It was HYDRA's fault." I said.

"Even when I had nothing, I had Bucky." Steve said. Suddenly, I get the feeling of dizzy. I put my head up and exhaled deeply. Just then, I heard Sam panicked.

"We need to get a doctor here. We don't put pressure on that wound she's gonna bleed out here in the truck." Sam said. I put my head on Steve's shoulder and just breathe deeply. Just then, the guard got a taser. Just then, the guard tased the other guard. The other guard fell on our feet. We all looked at the other guard and removed the helmet.

"Ah. That thing was squeezing my brain." We saw Hill as she removed the helmet. Hill looked at Sam and into Steve.

"Who's this guy?" Hill asked Steve.

"He's with us." Steve said. Just then, Hill got the other guard back on the seat and removed our cuffs on our feet and our hands. She cut a circle on the floor of the vehicle.

~After a while~

Hill went down the car. Steve followed and assisted me to go down as I held my wound. Sam held my back as we all went inside, following Hill. Then, a running man came in front of us.

"GSW. She's lost at least a pint." Hill said.

"Maybe two." Sam said.

"Let me take her." The running man said.

"She'll want to see him first." Hill said. I began to be curious. Then, Hill leads us to a curtained part. She pull the curtain and we got shocked.

"About damn time." Fury said as he looked at us. Hill let me take a seat on the chair as the others stand around Fury's bed. The running man, who appeared to be a doctor, told me to removed my jacket. I removed it and he began pressing pressure on my wound. I slightly groaned at the pressure.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver, one hell of a headache." Fury replied.

"Don't forget your collapsed lung." The doctor added.

"Oh, let's not forget that. Otherwise, I'm good." Fury said.

"They cut you open, your heart stopped." Nat asked.

"Tetrodotoxin B. Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Y/N developed it for Banner's stress. Didn't work so great for him, but we found a use for it." Fury said and I looked at him and he nod his head at me.

"Why all the secrecy? Why not just tell us?" Steve asked in curiosity.

"Any attempt on the director's life had to look successful." Hill said.

"Can't kill you if you're already dead. Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust." Fury said.

~After a couple of hours~

The doctor stitched me up. Fury and everyone are on the table discussing. I sat on the chair beside Nat and we looked at Fury as he grabbed the picture of Pierce.

"This man declined the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, "Peace wasn't an achievement, it was a responsibility." See, it's stuff like this that gives me trust issues." Fury said.

"We have to stop the launch." Nat said.

"I don't think the Council's accepting my calls anymore." Fury said. Just then, Fury opened a case. I looked at it and saw three chips on it.

"What's that?" Sam asked.

"Once the Helicarriers reach three thousand feet, they'll triangulate with Insight satellites becoming fully weaponized." Hill said as she showed us the laptop with the Helicarriers on the screen.

"We need to breach those carriers and replace their targeting blades with our own." Fury said.

"One or two won't cut it. We need to link all three carriers for this to work, because if even one of those ships remains operational a whole lot of people are gonna die." Hill said.

"We have to assume everyone aboard those carriers is HYDRA. We need to get pass them, insert the server blades, and maybe, just maybe, we can salvage what's left..." Fury said.

"We're not salvaging anything. We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick, we're taking down SHIELD." Steve said.

"SHIELD had nothing to do with it." Fury said.

"But, the members of SHIELD are also HYDRA members." I said in defense.

"You gave me this mission, this is how it ends. SHIELD's been compromised, you said so yourself. HYDRA grew right under your nose and nobody noticed." Steve said back.

"Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed."

"And how many paid the price before you did?" Steve asked back to Fury.

"Look, I didn't know about Barnes." Fury said.

"Even if you have, would you have told me? Or would you have compartmentalized that too? SHIELD, HYDRA, it all goes." Steve said irritatingly.

"He's right." Hill said to Fury. Fury looked at Hill. Then, he looked at me and I nod once. He looked at Nat and to Sam.

"Don't look at me. I do what he does, just slower." Sam said.

"Well... Looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain." Fury said as he sat back on his chair.

~After a while~

Steve is outside with Sam. I went near them on the bridge.

"Hey boys." I said. Both Sam and Steve looked at me. I went in the middle of them.

"Are you sure you're coming with us Y/N?" Steve asked referring to the wound.

"Yeah.. I will be fine.." I said.

"I can be some assistance." Sam said.

"Thank you Sam." I said. He smiled back at me and he looked behind me and looked confused. I looked behind me and saw Steve walking away.

"Gear up, it's time." Steve said.

"You gonna wear that?" Sam asked.

"No. If you're gonna fight a war, you gotta wear a uniform." Steve said.

~After a while~

Me, Hill, Steve and Sam were walking towards Triskelion. When we reached the area, Hill tried jamming the dish. Me, Steve and Sam waited for Hill on the door.

"Coming in.." Hill said as she appeared beside me. We heard the door opened. I got my gun. Me, Sam and Hill pointed to the man as Steve went near him. The man put his hands up in defense.

"Excuse us." Steve said. Hill motioned for the guy to move. Then, all of us went inside.
