I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. My head pounded, as I looked at the clock. I had slept 7 hours last night. That explains the head ache.
"Hello?" I asked without looking at the caller Id.
"Hey man. It's Mason. You got the job. Come in tomorrow at 8 and we will begin your training."
I sat up in bed, and rubbed my eyes. "I'll be there." I said.
We talked a few more minutes before he had to go back to work. I made my way to my bathroom and showered. While on the phone, Mason had explained the pay. With my money saved up, and having this job, I could move move to my own place. Guess that's where I will start this morning.
After calling a few places I found out that the only available rent house was the house beside Ally's. How is that even possible? I mean I know we live in a small town but jeeze! This information is both good and bad. Good because she definitely won't be able to avoid me, and bad because she isn't going to be happy about.
It was a two bedroom home. I had already been in it before, so I didn't need to look at it. An older couple had lived there when I was still in school. They would invite Ally and I over for cookies after school when we were younger. It was a homey place.
I told the woman, I would take it. She mentioned that in an hour, I should meet her there to fill out all of the paper work.
After I got off the phone with her, I made my way to an Atm, to withdrawl some cash for first months rent. I was glad a lot of places were still opened on Sundays, because I was able to turn the electricity and water on as well. I looked down at my watch and noticed almost an hour had passed. Time to head to my new home.
Pulling up into the driveway, I saw that the woman was already there. I stepped out with a smile.
"Hi. I'm Cain." I lifted my hand for her to shake. She was a short older woman, maybe in her sixties. She had short curly white hair, and blue grayish eyes.
"I'm Margie. Nice to meet you young man. Now lets head inside, and do paperwork, shall we?" I simply nodded and followed behind her.
The house was exactly how I remembered it. The walls were an off white, but still had a shine to it. As soon as you walked through the front door, you were in the living room which had dark hardwood floors. If you continued straight, a hall came up on your left, and the kitchen was on your right. It was painted a light yellow and had black and white checkered tiles for the floor. Down the hall were one bedroom on the left and another bedroom and a bathroom on the right. The bedroom on the left was the master which had a bathroom connected to it. The back yard was small, but nice with a newer chain linked fence around the back property.
After doing all the paperwork, I had Margie the rent money, and she was off to let me do what I wished with the home. I didn't plan on changing any of the colors, it reminded me too much of my childhood to do that. The only thing I needed to do was buy some furniture, and move my clothes in.
I was happy that the furniture store wasn't busy today. After I picked out a wooden dresser and bed, a brown couch with a wooden coffee table, a nice 65' tv to hang on the wall, a kitchen table, and a desk for the spare room, I made my way back to my parent's house. I had already called and talked to them about me getting my own place. Mom wasn't pleased at all saying I had just returned home, but she understood. Plus, I was only moving a street away. She knew I needed my privacy. Since the furniture store hadn't been busy they told me they would be delivering in two hours.
I was going to have a late lunch with my family and then grab my clothes to head back to my home. I smiled at that. Home. I had never had a place to call my very own.
Now I just couldn't wait to see the look on Ally's face when she figured it out.
