I sat on the bed rubbing Cain's back as he slept. He had tears in his eyes which broke my heart. I have only seen him cry once in his life, and that was when we parted ways four years ago. I looked him over and smiled. With him sleeping, I saw the boy I fell in love with. His face was devoid of any and all stress. He had a relaxed expression on. He had aged in the last four years. His arms had a few scars on them that I'm guessing he recieved while away. His shoulders were broader, and his muscles buldged with each calming breath he took. You could see slight laughter lines around the corner of his lips and eyes. I had missed him so much.
I even missed the overbearing ass who would punch a person just for calling me ugly, and the little fights we would have afterwards. He had always protected me. I froze when I felt him shift a little and heard the crunch of paper. My face turned to confusion as I looked for the source of the noise. There in his hands was a paper that he was clutching for dear life. I gently pried his hand away and gasped as I saw what he was holding on to. My letter. How did he get this? I looked for the envelope, finding it on the floor. Picking it up, I saw it had a ton of stamps on it, showing how many times it had been shipped off. After two years it had finally reached him. But how?
Tears started streaming down my face as I looked over the words I had written. Damn. Of course I spilt my feelings out to him. Well at least he knew the complete truth now, including what really happened that night and why I was the way I was.
I wiped a tear away right as a light knock came on the door. For the first time, since I woke up I looked around the room. Nothing looked familiar. Where were we?
Another knock came and I slowly got up off the bed not wanting to wake Cain. I opened the door slowly and flinched back when I realized it was someone I didn't know.
"I'm sorry. I thought Cain would answer. I'm Ryan." I studied him for a moment and saw the sincerity in his eyes and gave him a light smile.
"I'm Ally." I reached out and shook the man's hand. He was quiet handsome. Light brown hair that was slightly longer than Cain's, and brown eyes. He was also bigger than Cain was even though they were probably the same height.
"I didn't mean to wake you up." He said after a few seconds.
"I wasn't asleep. It's okay. Cain is though." I said gesturing with my hand towards the bed forgetting that I was still holding the letter.
"Where are we, if you don't mind me asking?" I didn't want to be rude.
"Oh my apologies. How rude of me. You are at one of my homes. I had called Cain this morning telling him how I was flying in today and that I had that letter for him." He said lookig at the letter. I nodded, stepping out into the hallway and shutting the door so we wouldn't wake him.
"When he heard I had the letter, he told me it was important. He told me to read it. Before you get mad though, I didn't want to. I promise." He rushed to explain. I just laughed at his scared face and told him it was fine to continue.
"Once I started reading it, I heard screaming in the background. Cain told me to stay on the line and I did. While I was waiting I read it all and realized that you were probably the one screaming. He confirmed it when he yelled out your name. I told him to get you and his family out of the house and meet me here. And now, here we are."
I nodded to myself and thought for a moment.
"Wait. His family is here also?"
"Yes they are. I'm sorry they were freaking out about everything that I told them why they had to leave home. I didn't know what to do. Cain's mom seems viscous!" This I laughed at.
"Oh gosh. No. I understand. It's completely fine. I'd rather you then me have to explain it all. It'd be too hard for me. Plus, it needed to be done." I reassured him. I can understand how he would think I would get mad, since it was my business, but that wasn't me. We were in a horrible situation. One that I had gotten us into. It would be stupid to get mad over something so little.
"I'm going to go see his family. I have some apologizing to do. You can have fun with him!" I gestured to the door before rushing down stairs.
Marie and Frank were the only ones downstairs so I figured Darcy was up in one of the rooms. As soon as the two spotted me, they both stood up. I could see tears in their eyes and I didn't hold back as I ran straight into Marie's arms.
"I'm so sorry." I sobbed into the crook of her neck.
"Oh honey," she held me tight and patted my back. "None of this is your fault. We understand. We always understood but we just thought it was for a different reason. Now that we know the truth we can all figure this out together."
I nodded my head, but didn't let her go. If felt good to be held. Her hugs always did wonders, it made me think of my mother. Another round of tears burst through my eyes, as soon as I felt Frank come up from the side and join the hug.
"We've missed you Ally." He whispered as he smoothed down my hair.
I sniffled a few times before I was able to talk again. "I've missed you too. Oh, I've missed all of you!"
I had been too busy snuggling up to Marie I hadn't realized that Frank had taken the letter from me.
"What the fuck?" I jumped in surprise, amd felt my face pale when I saw he was holding the papers that held all of my secrets.
I quickly snatched the papers out of his hand held them to my chest. "What all did you read?" I asked worried that he read the first part about me and his son having sex.
"I read it all Ally." My face paled more, for that I'm sure. I felt a little lightheaded even.
"I'm not worried about the beginning if that's what your scared over. It's not my business. What is my business is the fact that all of this was placed on you, and if you didn't comply my family would be in danger. What I'm worried about is my family's safety. I'm also worried about you. How.." He cleared his throat before continuing. "How did you cope? You were alone."
"Um..." I thought for a moment. "Writing it all down helped I guess, since I wasn't supposed to tell anyone. But look where that got everyone. I still managed to put ya'll in danger." I lowered my eyes to the ground ashamed.
"Ally dear, none of this is your fault. You should of came to me as soon as it happened. We would of been there for you and we would of been doing what we are doing now. Figuring out a way to fix this. We will fix this." Frank had a look of determination that made me automatically nod my head.
"May I?" Marie asked, holding her hand out for the paper. I though for a moment. Oh, what the hell.
"Might as well, everyone else in the house has read it. Well besides Darcy, and I want to keep it that way."
"I understand." Marie nodded before taking the scraps of paper from my hands. I watched as a series of emotions flashed across her face. First the smiling, then her cheeks turned red in embarrassment. That made my flame as well. Next came a huge smile and then after that came great sadness and anger. She didn't say a word as she passed the papers back to me; she simply nodded her head.
"Ally." A voice whispered from behind me.
I turned around and was swooped up into a hug by Cain.
"We are going to fix this, I promise! I'll never leave your side again." He whispered in my ear so only I could hear him. I whispered back an okay and held him tighter to me.
I was so worried about what life had in store for us next.
