My jaw dropped and my phone fell on the hard ground as soon as I rubbed my eyes to see if my eyesight wasn't playing with me.
"Mum?! Dad?!" I slightly cracked the door, inviting them in. "What brings you here?" I smiled, peering behind them to see if someone else was there as usually was.
"Oh, my sweet daughter" my dad gripped my tiny body into a loving hug. "We missed you darling" he kissed my forehead.
My mum put down her leather brown bag, then pulled me closer to her, placing kisses all over my face.
"I missed you too mum yeah" I murmured.
"Bella, whe-" she was in shock. "Oh, hey there Mr and Mrs O'Brien. Nice to see ya around" she put on a smile absolutely fake.
"Oi" my father replied in humor. "Zara Connors, you are a fine little girl"
"Hank, don't be rude darling" my mum burst at him.
Zara's cheeks were painted with a crimson red colour, scratching on an imaginary itch on her arm.
I twirled my hair anxiously in my fingers, still waiting for them to answer my question. They were the least people that I hoped to see in front of the door.
"We came immediately after Arielle called. Where is your brother?!" My father yelled.
I remained calmly when the word 'brother' scratched my ears but my face went red, nostrils flared in anger.
I sat down at the table with them, offering fresh green apple juice that I just bought.
"I have no idea where he could be, dad. I haven't spoken to him ever since I went to London. " I grinned in disdain.
He was enjoying his Marlboro while my mum was complaining about my father who hadn't given up on smoke.
Through my father I saw myself; my jaw line and eyes were exactly like his, even the smile and laugh. Zara left already in a rush because her parents called her home. She assured me that she was going to check on the boys while I was busy with my parents.
" So how is work?" I finally sat down across to them, playing with my hair.
"It is fine really, we are working with the Turners now, also with Gabe and Lola, they fit perfectly in our company. We are trying now to extend it so we can move back to England with you."
"Turners?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, Penny and David. Our friends. They also came to visit their son, Alexander" my mum chuckled.
My dad always let her do all the talk because she was pretty good at it, a thing she did all her life. Now I know from where I got a bad yet big mouth sometimes. They seemed like they had enough of each other and it was visible by their gestures, moves and talks.
They really surprised me when they told me about Alex's parents; although it was kind of obvious that they were still good friends.
"Oh..." it was suddenly surprisingly hot in the house. "Cool..."
My whole body heated up, my face turning pink. I took a sip of sparkly water, patting my legs with the other hand.
Approaching night time my parents decided to go eat dinner at a fancy restaurant on the main road, the most attractive street of our Sheffield. I pouted at them, saying that I was tired and wasn't in a good mood to spend my night out.
"Arabella stop being childish and join us" she begged. "You are 18 years old and still a baby" she kissed my forehead.
I poked my tongue out at her, followed by a sly smirk.
