Emma's POV

I walked away from Ashton, and even though I felt bad about leaving him like that, I had to figure out what was going on. Alex is an asshole, but I never thought he'd be the type to cheat on a girl.

"Hey Alex," I said.

"Emma? Can I help you?" His voice was shaky, and I could tell that he was a little nervous about me being there.

"Emma?" the unfamiliar girl asked.

"Yup, that'd be me."

"Oh my god! It's nice to finally meet this infamous sister I've heard so much about," she said as she hugged me.

I narrowed my eyes at Alex. "Sister?" Alex awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry, what's your name?"

"Rebecca."

"How long have you and Alex been dating?"

"Oh gosh... It's been.. Six months today?"

I felt an arm wrap around my waist, a hand resting on my hip and I sunk into whoever it was. I hope it was Ashton. Six months.... That means he was cheating on me the entire time, and Rebecca, and apparently now with Jen. I looked back at Alex and his eyes were on Ashton's arm.

"Are you okay? Is that your boyfriend?"

"Yeah, Em, is he?"

Ashton's arm tightened around me. "I'm not Alex's sister," I said.

"You aren't?"

I shook my head.

"Then who-? Oh god. Are you dating him?"

"No! We broke up three weeks ago."

"Only three weeks?" She looked at Alex. "Is this true?"

"Rebecca, babe-"

"Oh my god.." her hand flew to her mouth and tears started to fill her eyes. She looked at me, "I'm so sorry." she said, then ran away.

I glared at Alex. "I've never been happier to not be with you. You're such an asshole."

I walked away and went to catch up to Rebecca. I figured she had probably gone into the bathroom, and she was. It was incredibly sad. She was just leaning against the bathroom wall, wiping at her eyes. She was honestly incredibly pretty and I could see why he would have liked her. Her red hair was slightly wavy and her green eyes were bright and gorgeous.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

She looked up and laughed slightly, harshly. "I should be asking you that."

I smiled. "No, you definitely don't look okay."

"It is kind of shocking when you find out that your boyfriend of six months was cheating on you for four of them. Or maybe more.."

"I do know that he has another girlfriend who actually goes to my school..."

"Great... Do you think that he knows I broke up with him, or do I actually have to tell him?"

"Oh, he knows."

She laughed. "So.. that boy you were with, the one with the curly hair, is he your boyfriend?"

"Not yet, but this is our first date."

"He seems very protective of you."

"Yeah, he is."

"Is he your best friend or something, because I know you can't possibly be in love with him this soon."

"Yes, he is."

"You didn't correct me," she smirked.

I laughed. "Do you want to hang out with me and my other friends? And brother?"

She smiled the brightest smile I've seen on her today. "Is that weird?"

"No! We can bond over how much we hate Alex, because all of my friends do."

She laughed. "Alright. I'm up for it."

I took her hand and pulled her out of the bathroom and saw that everyone was waiting for me outside. Ashton came up to me and I let go of Rebecca's hand so I could take his.

"You okay?"

"I'm great."

"Really?"

I nodded.

He kissed my cheek. "Okay then."

"Guys, this is Rebecca, Rebecca this is Ashton, Sam, Michael, Calum, and my brother Luke."

"Hi," she said.

"Sorry about your douchebag of an ex-boyfriend," Luke said.

"Eh. We've all got to experience that amount of asshole don't we?"

He laughed. "Well, there's no reason you can't enjoy the rest of the carnival, right?"

"Right," she said.

Luke held out his hand and she took it. "Let's go."

As they started to walk away, Rebecca was stopped by non other than Jen. This is getting crazier by the second.

"Is it true?" she asked.

"You are?"

"I'm Alex's, was Alex's girlfriend. My name's Jen."

"Oh. I think we should talk."

"I agree," she nodded. Her eyes glanced over and she smiled. "Hi Calum. Did you finish your half of the Sociology project yet?"

"Almost," he smiled. "Maybe we can talk about a few ideas I had for it."

"Absolutely."

The four of them walked off together, hand in hand, and as I turned to look at Michael and Sam I realized they were gone too. It was just me and Ashton.

"Let's go on the Ferris wheel," he suggested.

I nodded and then we started walking towards it, with his arm around my waist. This day was turning out better than I thought it would.
