Ashton's POV

My attention immediately switched from Calum to Emma as I heard her laugh. The sound was actually really loud even though the hallway was really crowded. Once I saw Emma, I also saw Sammy and she was laughing as well. I don't blame her. Emma was doing this weird little dance, regardless of how many people could be staring. It's one of the things I love most about her; she really doesn't care what anyone else might think about her, aside from her friends, but we've been friends for so long that we're used to her.

The fact that Alex wasn't standing directly behind her was surprising considering her shorts barely cover her butt, and the maroon t-shirt she was wearing brought out the brown in her wavy hair. She always looked so effortlessly beautiful, and from what I've heard, everyone was envious. Em brought a hand up and ran a hand through her hair and flipped it to the left, then leaned against the locker as casually as she could.

"Did you just hear a word I said?" Calum asked me.

My attention went back to him as I blushed madly. "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

"I was saying that we really need to rehearse tonight no matter what. The gig is tomorrow and all you keep thinking about is heartbreak girl over there."

"Yeah... I guess I haven't really been myself lately."

"You're a lovesick puppy, and it's disgusting."

"I need to get over her."

"That's not what I'm saying."

"You don't think I should get over her?"

"Absolutely not. You guys are meant to be together, and after the game yesterday.. I know there's something there between the two of you."

I knew exactly what he was talking about. Em had gotten really close to me, and if I had moved in an inch, I could've kissed her. "That wasn't really something to look at. She didn't realize she was doing it, and as soon as she realized how close we were, she pulled away."

"Lies. She's drawn to you, Ash."

I shrugged.

"Anyway... We might have a problem with your bet."

"Bet?"

"The one you made with Em?"

"Oh right. Shit, what's the problem?"

"Sammy said she might not be able to go to the gig."

"What!? She has to go! I said that something was going to happen between the two of them Friday, and that won't happen if she's not there!"

"No kidding, but I don't know what she's doing instead."

"But she always comes to the shows."

"I know."

I sighed.

"Hey guys," Sammy's bubbly voice said.

"Why aren't you coming to the show?" I blurted, not really caring how rude that sounded.

Sammy just rolled her eyes. "I have to watch my little sister."

"Tell your parents to find a babysitter."

"They did, and one that'll do it for free because she doesn't have any other choice."

"Sammy come on," I begged. "Please find a way to come?"

"I can't leave my five year old sister home alone, and I'm definitely not bringing her to a bar full of sweaty alcoholics that need to drink away their sorrows."
