Ashton's POV

I'm dying to know what Emma's thinking right now. Ever since her and Alex broke up, I've been acting a lot more than friendly with her and she hasn't exactly been telling me no. Like I literally asked her on a date and she said yes. Unless she thinks that I didn't mean it as a date... Fuck, I hope she knows it's a date. She probably doesn't, because I asked her to go to the carnival with me and we do every year anyway. Whatever, I'll figure out a way to make sure she knows it's a date.

"Ash," Calum said.

"Yeah?"

"You okay?"

"I'm just thinking."

"About Emma I'm sure."

"Yeah..."

"Don't worry, everything's going to go fine tonight," he assured me as he knocked on Emma and Luke's door.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Hey Ash," Emma greeted.

I smiled and tried to be as subtle as possible as I took in her appearance. The coral color of her tank top really complimented her skin nicely, and her curled, brown hair made the shirt seem even brighter. She looked effortlessly beautiful and I'm glad to be taking her on a date. "Hi," I finally said.

She laughed and walked outside. We walked to my car together with Luke and Calum following behind us. I'm sure they're laughing about how speechless I was when I saw her and I could punch them in the face without hesitation or guilt right now. Luke was teasing Emma mercilessly about how long it took her to get ready on the way to the carnival though, and it made me slightly happy that they always embarrassed pairs. I can't wait until they see Sammy and Michael.

The first thing we did was get some cotton candy, blue because that's Emma's favorite, and then we went on a hunt for Michael and Sam. I couldn't hold Emma's hand since she needed both to eat the cotton candy, so I just kept my arm around her waist. We finally found Michael and Sam by the elephants and Luke successfully scared Sam.

"Oh my god!" she screamed and put a hand on her chest. "Luke, don't ever do that again!"

He laughed and gave her a hug. "Sorry, but I hadn't done it in a while and that was the most perfect opportunity."

"Do my eyes deceive me, or is Sam actually wearing a skirt?" I laughed.

"Haha. Laugh all you want, but I look fucking hot in this and you know it."

"You do," Michael said.

She blushed, and my jaw dropped slightly. It's amazing how she can be so tough and bad ass one second, and the next she's shy and unsure, and it's all because of Michael.

"Are we going to go see the aerial performers now?" Emma asked me.

"Yes, absolutely."

I guided her to the huge tent that was set up specifically for them and made our way up to the middle section. It's was perfect because now we could see the ground and the air performances equally. Not like I really noticed the performances. I was too focused on Emma's reactions. She was so happy to see them again, and I'm sure she'd never get tired of seeing them.

The six of us walked out of the tent, and everyone decided to split off into pairs. Which left me with just Emma. I know they wanted me to be alone with her for a while. Well, maybe not Luke for obvious reasons, but definitely everyone else.

"I'm literally so happy that it's finally here!"

I laughed. "I can tell."

"I already have a countdown on my phone for next year's because I saw a flier with the date on it."

"Wow. Very proactive."

"Is that weird?"

I shook my head. "For someone else, sure, but not for you."

I took her hand, only for her to take it away a second later. "That's not that same girl he was with yesterday, is it?"

I followed her eyes, already feeling like this is only going to end badly. "No, she's not the same girl."

"Isn't he dating Jen? Who is that? Does she go to our school?"

"Why are you asking me all of these questions? You might as well just ask him," I mumbled.

"Good idea. I'll be right back."

Oh no.
