We made our way back to the TARDIS, but - with the Doctor being so happy - I decided to wait to ask about where Jack was. If he'd been turned into a zombie, surely he was ok now.

"The nanogenes will clean up the mess and switch themselves off, because I just told them to. Nancy and Jamie will go to doctor Constantine for help, ditto - all in all, things considered, fantastic!" The Doctor told my sister and I enthusiastically.

"Look at you, beaming away like you're Father Christmas." Rose giggled.

"Who says I'm not, red-bicycle-when-you-were-twelve?"

My sister looked up, startled. "What?!" Wait, what? How? "Lilly got me that bike!"

"And everybody lives, girls! Everybody lives!" His arms were open wide, only putting them down to ping a switch on the console. "I need more days like this."

"Doctor..." I began.

"Go on, ask me anything. I'm on fire!"

"I really don't wanna ruin the mood, I promise... But where's Jack?"

The Time Lord's smile faded, as he carried on working - it seemed like he didn't want to answer.

A second later, while my sister went to get Jack, the Time Lord put on 'Moonlight Serenade'. He stood in front of me, placing both hands on my shoulders. "We need to talk."

"Yep. But before we do, I wanna work out, have dinner and stuff."

"Are you sure you're not just stalling?" The Doctor raised a brow at me.

Without answering, I exited the room. To prolong the time before I had to talk, I did an hour of training, had a shower, got into pyjamas and ate dinner. With a hot water bottle on my stomach - I positioned myself on the sofa with a blanket over me and my phone in hand. I really didn't want to have a conversation with the Doctor. And unless I jumped out of the time machine, there was no escape.

I flinched on instinct when my feet were lifted so that they were in someone's lap. Jack's lap to be precise. "Um...what are you doing?" I pulled my headphones out to talk to him.

"I know that I'm not your friend yet, but if what you say is true - I want to see if you're ok. Don't let it be said that I don't look after those I love."

"You heard me saying how I trust you with my life in hospital, didn't you?" I quizzed.

"Yeah." There was a moment of silence where neither of us wanted to ruin the peaceful quiet. "Can I just ask...are we really fuck-buddies?"
